Here's one I didn't create.

This dog was abandoned when it's owner(s) moved out of a rented house in the
town where I live. The dog is being treated by a veterinarian. The collection
is to pay for the dog's medical treatment.

Any amount will help. No need to apologize if you can't donate. I understand,
since I'm in that situation, too.

Yes Angel needs help, I hope the Dog has a comfortable place to lay down, this is probably just for the picture. Grace had been abandoned to wander as a stray, so I sympathize, but I don't have more than $3.67 at the moment and I may need that for gas for My car.

Poor excuse for a happy dog, that really stinks.

I'm sure that this photo was taken after she was removed from the house. It
looks like things are for sale (on the right side), like in some sort of pet
shop. She is currently at a veterinary clinic receiving treatment for mange and
whatever else is wrong with her. The money is being raised to help pay the
medical costs, and probably to have her spayed and vaccinated so that she can
eventually be adopted.

I only know that she was abandoned and is receiving the medical care that she
needs. Everything else is speculation on my part. If you have specific questions,
I can ask the person who set up the GoFundMe. She is my neighbor.

As I said, there is no need to apologize. You owe no one any explanation for
not donating.

I didn't know this about racoon dogs in Northern Europe.
Not even there were any.

So this raccoon dog looks a lot like a raccoon, but how closely related
are they? Can anyone explain that in lay terms?

The raccoon dog is more closely related to dogs and foxes, raccoons are more closely related to bears and panda's.

When I was a kid in the 1970's, we had a bird feeder in the backyard, and while generally the customers were just sparrows, there were also a few Cardinals, and even some Bluejays. We haven't had that feeder since about 1982, and until this year I really wasn't seeing any Bluejays and very few Cardinals anymore anywhere in the back or front yard. For some reason now, however, Bluejays have been perching around both yards, and even more Cardinals. Nice to see again. :~) I may resurrect a bird feeder to help them out.

I think the bluejays took a hit back a couple of years ago when we had that
thing going around. I forget exactly what it was, but it was carried by
mosquitoes and was killing some birds - crows mostly, I think. People were
being told to report any dead birds they found so the birds could be tested
for the virus. I noticed bluejays disappeared during that time. Like you, I
am noticing a comeback of sorts.

The virus, whatever it was, was dangerous for people, too - senior citizens
and young children.

Does anyone remember what that was?

Edit: Maybe it was the West Nile virus.

I did a Bing search using the terms 'bluejays virus senior citizens' and I came up with the "West Nile Virus" Suzie-Q.

So do squirrels, and we already have a ton of them. I haven't bought any raw peanuts in the shell lately. May be fun to see a bluejay and squirrel go nuts together. ;~)
