A landfill maybe a rubish heap now. But in the future when natural resources are tight. A landfill will be look at like a resource bank to be mined. |

Also you can tell there is a world recession on. Times were when at 6pm when they opened, until closing time, there were always hot cabinets full of cod, skate, rock, haddock, fish cakes, battered sausages, meat pies etc all pre cooked. Now they will only cook to order as each request comes in. That means at least a 20 minute wait. Not only that have you seen the prices??? Could have to do with food safety regulations or standards. They probably have to toss anything that doesn't sell within 30 minutes of being made, so they don't want to have a bunch of premade stuff sitting around. I could get into the price issue too, but that would probably take us into politics. More likely not to have a bunch of over dried out product that pisses off the customer who then demands a refund and swears never to set foot in the place again, bad mouths them on the way out and uses social media to trash the place. |

I certainly go out of the way for my fish'n'chips to be cooked fresh. I always pass on the stuff kept in those bain-maries (you never know how long they've been in there). Cheers. |

They're still classed as a bain-marie over here Chris. ;-) Cheers. |

If the beer here isn't at -2C then it's not fit to drink Chris. ;-) Cheers. |

Once again, confusion caused by different uses of the English language. I used to believe that "Brits drink their beer at room temperature" line, until I spent a few nights in UK hotels. I now know that what a Brit calls "room temperature" is the same as what a Canuck calls "fresh out of the fridge". |

@Wiggo - Australian lager isn't fit to drink at any temperature!! Can`t agree on that. I have brewed australian Lager and it was just great. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Ah, but during our one day summer, when room temperatures crawl into double digits Celsius we still drink our ale at room temperature.... ... all the freebie shampoos and body lotions, which are crap anyway, but useful for secret santa in the office at Christmas. You'd want to remain secret if you're honestly giving those as gifts! ~Sue~ |

I really don't know why people do secret santa, it's so childish and people get embarrassed. Because, if you genuinely like and are liked by your colleagues, it can be fun... (And just for the PC record, out here in the People's Republic of Berkeley we prefer the term "Secret Snowflake" over "Secret Santa" to make the game more welcoming and inclusive.) |
