Personally, I liked the SLR :-)

I was in the Signal Corps so we didn't have any assualt rifles.
Only the m/45 Carl Gustaf machinegun designed 1945.

Useless for target shooting.
Did I like it? No:)
9.3 lbs extra to carry together with your steelhelmet and gasmask.

Trump tweet.

Very strong improvement and strengthening of background checks will be fully backed by White House. Legislation moving forward. Bump Stocks will soon be out. Highly trained expert teachers will be allowed to conceal carry, subject to State Law. Armed guards OK, deterrent!.......

What's the difference between teachers conceal carry and armed guards?

to personally insult to deflect from their non-understanding of what the majority in the USA will allow their elected officials to do.

That is one statement that you have got totally wrong.
The majority of US citizens want increased restrictions, it is the politicians that are out of step because they fear the NRA and like the campaign money.

Correct and depending on which poll you look at between 60-72% of people over there want stricter firearm controls and between 60-67% of them want assault rifles banned outright.

Cheers.

The idea of trained teachers is like all of Trump's policies. It hasn't been thought through.

If you hadn't noticed there is a shortage of teachers in most parts of the country.
Nearly every school needs more money just to maintain the status quo.
All teachers are overworked already.
Most teachers are against it.

It is also a problem that needs to be fixed asap, not in five years time. Which is about the shortest time Trump's ideas can possibly be implemented.

Doesn't make sense to me. And not to many americans as well.
Highly trained expert teachers in both gun handling and teaching!
Give me a break. It doesn't work!
I read that first teachers would be giving gun training for about 140 hours.
Then of course supplementary training is needed perhaps once per year or so.
What is the average salary for an high school teacher in the US?
Are they prepared to act like an armed guard while teaching?

Again you are incorrect.

70% of Americans want stricter assault weapon laws — more than ever before

A new poll shows that 70% of Americans — and more than half of Republicans — support stricter laws on assault weapons in the wake of a deadly shooting in Florida.

According to the poll from Business Insider's partner MSN, 87% of Democrats and 52% of Republicans support stricter laws on assault weapons.

The nationwide average of 70% is even higher than the 67% that want to ban assault weapons and the 66% that wanted tougher gun laws in general in a recent Quinnipiac University poll. Those figures are the highest ever in the 10-year history of the poll.

Gun control support surges in polls

Support for stricter gun laws has spiked in polls conducted after the fatal South Florida school shooting, hitting its highest level in at least a quarter-century.

Roughly 2 in 3 Americans now say gun control laws should be made more strict in the wake of the murder of 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, according to a number of polls, including a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll that shows support for stricter gun laws among registered voters at 68 percent, compared with just 25 percent who oppose stricter gun laws.

Florida Shooting: 50 Percent of Americans Now Want Nationwide Ban on Assault Weapons, Poll Shows

Half of Americans would back a nationwide ban on the sale of assault weapons, a new poll shows, with the majority of respondents also stating President Donald Trump is not doing enough to prevent mass shootings.

The Washington Post/ABC News poll was conducted following the deadly mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida, which left at least 17 people dead and others injured.

Of the 808 adults surveyed from February 15 to 18, 62 percent of people do not think the president is doing enough to prevent mass shootings, with 77 percent believing Congress is not doing enough to tackle the problem.

Majority support increased gun restrictions: poll

Most Americans support stricter gun laws following a mass shooting at a Florida high school this month, but few expect Congress to take action on the issue, a poll released Sunday found.

A USA Today poll showed 19 percent of Americans believe there’s a good or excellent chance Congress will enact tougher gun control laws, while 76 percent believe there’s a fair or poor chance lawmakers will act.

Since in the 42 Pro-Gun States any politician who proposes the above will not remain in office...
So are you implying that 67% of the population that want tighter controls, are in the remaining 8 States?

That implies that the 42 States, being lightly populated are holding the majority of the USA's population hostage?

Isn't that a major breach of their 1st amendment rights?

Sorry, the NRA is just a boogeyman accusation by those who will not acknowledge that most Americans voters will vote against any politician who wishes to either diminish the 2nd Amendment or confiscate their guns or right to buy guns.

Another myth.
Nobody has suggested amending the 2nd in any shape or form.
Or to confiscate all their weapons.

We are discussing restricting the types of weapons, i.e. banning semi-automatic rifles and large magazines.
And having meaningful background checks and ensuring that all those with mental health problems and criminals that should be on the database are actually on it.

But the USA is really more fragmented than Russia

Very untrue.
But I think they have the same weapon laws in all of the 21 republics.

Our States have many disparate laws. Many of these laws are at odds with Washington's Laws and that is allowed under our Constitution. As long as they do not violate our Constitution.

I'm not sure that turncoat, Sessions agree's with you at the moment.

As a follow up to my post 1924279, evidence of teachers low pay in many states, How much (or little) teachers earn — state by state

What gets me is that teachers pay in about a third of states is below the average starting salary of a person who has just graduated college, and about another third are only just above it.

Looks to me like a lot of Americans are not really interested in their kids education or their safety when in school.

Trump under growing pressure on gun control after appearing to cave in to NRA.

Donald Trump, who last month chided fellow Republicans for being “petrified” of the National Rifle Association (NRA), is under growing pressure after seemingly caving in to the powerful gun lobby group’s demands.

The US president on Sunday backed away from raising the minimum age for gun purchases from 18 to 21, one of several measures he initially supported after the mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida, on 14 February.
Obviously Trump can't keep up with what he says for longer than a day in some cases.

Oh they are very interested in their child's education. Of course that has to be a a private school where their child can be fully indoctrinated away from the rest of the undesirables. It costs those parents a lot of money for that private school so they have nothing left for the public school. It costs so much they come up with schemes like vouchers to steal even more from the public schools. They also seem to be happy to have those schools look like prisons where everyone going in or out is strip searched and cell, er classroom doors are always locked. You must prevent Johnny and Jill from experiencing the real world because it is a bad place out there.

No wonder Russia and China will dominate the world and the USA will be relegated to third world status in a score of years.
