Try using this simple app_config.xml Yep, basically what is above. For me, specifically, I took the following, eliminated the AP section and updated the sah version to 8: <app_config> <app> <name>setiathome_v8</name> <gpu_versions> <gpu_usage>0.50</gpu_usage> <cpu_usage>0.4</cpu_usage> </gpu_versions> </app> </app_config> pasted it into Notepad, and saved it as app_config.xml in the c:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkekey.edu_beta folder. Told BOINCTasks to reread the config file, and now running two per. |

Louis, Jim is right.. Louis, here's a correction on CPU usage: <app_config> <app> <name>setiathome_v8</name> <gpu_versions> <gpu_usage>0.50</gpu_usage> <cpu_usage>0.04</cpu_usage> </gpu_versions> </app> </app_config> cpu_usage should be 0.04, not 0.4, to be consistent with Seti main and lunatics. Otherwise each GPU uses a full core to feed it! |

Help Mr. Kevvy, I deleted my app_info.xml and then loaded the latest version of Boinc and then started Boinc back up and received 4 cpu units of work. Then I went to try and join the seti beta you gave me and it said that it was down for now and that I should try later. When I came back to the Tasks page I saw that it had evidently d/led a AP and is running a nVidia Open CL 100 now at version 7 7.10. Is this okay and if not, how do I stop it since I didn't call for it in a app_info file in the first place. Thanks!! PS I just noticed that it d/led a bunch of new AP files today too, maybe all is well????? |

If you only want v8 work, go to Beta then into Your Account and then SETI@home/AstroPulse Beta preferences. Click Edit Preferences and uncheck SETI@home v7 and AstroPulse v7, then click Update Preferences. Edit: Going to drink beer and watch movies now so anything else will have to wait until tomorrow. :^D |

Shorties are short, but why are VLAR's now faster than the standard WU? VLAR 6 to 7,000 sec. std 8 to 9,000 sec. on my machine. Kevin |

Shorties are short, but why are VLAR's now faster than the standard WU? Yeah, I've noticed a few normal WUs that have longer run time estimates than the VLARs. On one system most VLARs are 4-4.5 hours. There are a couple of non VLAR WUs that are 5 hours & 5.5 hours. There's a fair mix of non VALR WUs with the same (or very similar) runtimes as the VLARs.
