The iconic Great Ocean Road has been closed with fires burning between Lorne and Appolo Bay. Thousands of holiday makers are beng evacuated from coastal towns as the fires spread. No casualties so far. 2 houses burnt.
When I rode up onto the river bridge on the way home from the x-wifes I could see the smoke about 70km away.

Praying that storms are a help and not a headache for the firefighters.
Rain is good, but the lightning from thunderstorms can spark more fires.

I hate brush fires which is what we call our local ones. We seemed to have escaped our fire season without a major one taking off this year.

About 50 or so homes were burnt during the night but fortunately there have been no deaths or injuries. Rain hashelped put most of the fires out and th rest are contained. Most of the roads are reopening and people are returning to their towns.

And yes Lynn we had huge fires in South Australia a few weeks ago.
