They'll have had fun shifting this:

That's actually in the middle of this roundabout - he must have come down the hill from the top right at some speed, and simply gone straight on at the bottom. Local newspaper report

Good job I went to Bradford yesterday, as earlier today the A56 Lancashire - A56 Haslingden Bypass in Haslingden closed, queuing traffic and long delays northbound between Bent Gate Roundabout and Rising Bridge Roundabout, because of an accident. Congestion to Ramsbottom. was also blocked at 08:30.
That's both the northern and southern routes with delays.

Driving the company van, I usually (when on Interstates) lock my cruise control right at the speed limit and stay in the right lane (or second right if there are four). It's absolutely amazing how many people will come up behind me and stay there for miles, even if there is plenty of room to pass me. AND, if I move to the next lane to my left, these people will then zip past me on my right.

Bumper lock drivers. One of the two lemming types.

Fender lock drivers are the one who won't pass. Fender lock happens when they stay at tailgate distance but in the next lane. You go faster, they go faster. You slow down, they slow down. Heaven help you if you need to change lanes. The Interstate gets blocked when three of them get together and have all the lanes tied up. It doesn't matter how many miles it is to the next vehicle in their lane, they are going to stay locked to the fender of the car in the next lane and no one will be allowed to pass the block.

Yesterday saw a guy with his electric razor shaving while on the interstate. Just as bad as the cellphone types.

I hate those too, especially if they're in my blind spot.

Interesting

Polegate level crossing hits woman, 89, on head
An 89-year-old woman was left lying on a railway track after a level crossing barrier struck her on the head.
Violet Tarrant said she feared for her life after the incident on Friday in Polegate, East Sussex.
"I thought I was just going to die lying on that line. It terrified me," she said.

It follows another incident at the same crossing in August last year when an elderly pedestrian pushing a shopping trolley became trapped on the railway line as the barriers came down.

Councillor David Watts, of Polegate Town Council, said: "From a health and safety point of view we can't have people going across the crossing with possibly a doubt in their mind whether or not they're going to be struck."
If they didn't try to beat the gates once the lights start flashing and the bells start ringing, they wouldn't get hit.

Elderly walk a heck of a lot slower. They may not have been trying to beat the gates.

Another thing I hate: I'm in the left lane and need to get to the right soon. Car ahead and car to right are going about the same speed (probably a couple mph under the limit for no good reason). I slow down to get behind the car on the right. Just as I'm about to have room, the 3 or 4 cars behind me all switch to the right and speed up, blocking me from it. Right about then, the car ahead speeds up, but it's too late to get ahead of the car on the right and make my turn safely. None of the ones who were behind will let me in, even when I signal.

Old comic strip, I don't even remember which one:

Old woman is standing at the curb. Man asks what her problem is. She says there's too much traffic to cross safely. He says there hasn't been a car in 10 minutes. She says that's not long enough.

How do people go the wrong way?
http://abc7.com/4-killed-in-separate-wrong-way-crashes-on-la-freeways-overnight/2669919/
It was a deadly night on Southern California freeways, as four people were killed in two wrong-way crashes in Baldwin Park and in Porter Ranch.

A suspect was spotted just after midnight Sunday, driving a Toyota Camry the wrong way down the 5 Freeway in San Fernando. The driver made it all the way to the 118 Freeway in Porter Ranch, where that Camry smashed into a silver Lexus near De Soto Avenue.

There was also deadly crash in Baldwin Park, where two people were killed after a different wrong-way driver collided with another car on the 605 Freeway.

All the gates I've seen in action come down several seconds after the lights & bells start up.
If you can't move fast enough in that period of time to get back behind the gate, then you probably shouldn't be out & about without assistance.

If you ever come this way, I will introduce you to some ladies, Waddington Hospital

Would suggest you visit the Old Hall first and borrow a suit of armour. (see left of link)

How can airlines stop hackers pwning planes over the air? And don't say 'regular patches'
Homeland Security hacks 757 on the tarmac
At least some commercial aircraft are vulnerable to wireless hacking, a US Department of Homeland Security official has admitted.

A plane was compromised as it sat on the tarmac at a New Jersey airport by a team of boffins from the worlds of government, industry and academia, we're told. During the hack – the details of which are classified – experts accessed systems on the Boeing 757 via radio-frequency communications.

“We got the airplane on September 19, 2016. Two days later, I was successful in accomplishing a remote, non-cooperative, penetration,” said Robert Hickey, aviation program manager within the cyber-security division of the DHS's science and technology directorate, while speaking at the CyberSat Summit in Virginia earlier this month.

In the second right of four lanes, slowly gaining on a truck. Guy sitting on my tail. I move one lane left. Guy moves up and sits on the truck's tail. Meanwhile, truck speeds up a tad so I'm no longer gaining on it, which was the only reason I moved over. Guy has plenty of room to move left in front of me but finally cuts right instead. Sadly, he was tame compared to some other maniacs out there.

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/terror-threat-us-rail-puts-law-enforcement-alert/story?id=51204458
With terrorist groups renewing calls for would-be attackers to target American rail lines, at least one local law enforcement agency in the U.S. is using drones to help guard against such a threat.

The police chief for the Philadelphia-area's mass-transit system said he has known for some time that more than 140,000 miles of rail lines crisscrossing America are "porous" and had thought for a while of using drones to monitor the agency's tracks.

He initiated the drone program after an article in the latest issue of al Qaeda's English-language publication gave step-by-step instructions for fashioning a "homemade derail tool" and claimed that railroads are among America's "easiest targets."
