Nice flying, bet the passengers had a few whoopsie moments :-)

Probably would have been worth going around earlier, but the Pilot Flying made the right choice to go around after that bounce on touch down and not try to stay down.

Alphabet's Waymo to launch robotaxis with no human in driver's seat

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Alphabet Inc’s Waymo will launch a ride-hailing service with no human behind the steering wheel and has been testing the fully self-driving cars on public roads in Arizona, Chief Executive John Krafcik said on Tuesday.

The test without a human in the driver’s seat is a first in the United States as large tech companies, big automakers and well-funded startups race to develop fully autonomous cars.

The moment a 96-year-old driver flew out of car park and launched into air.

Which again ignites the question here of, "How old is to old to drive?". Luckily no one else was injured or killed.

Cheers.

The problem isn't age itself, but competency.
Such as the accident Sirius B linked to- the problem wasn't one of eye sight, but just not looking.

And what about the 52 year old that killed & injured the students at the Banksia Rd school?
Just WTF happened there??? And what was she doing in the staff carpark anyway???

Self-driving bus in crash just 2 hours after entering public service

A self-driving bus has been involved in a collision, barely two hours after being introduced into public service for the first time.

The vehicle was reportedly hit by a human-driven lorry, according to the BBC, which adds that the lorry driver was given a ticket by police.

Describing the accident with the bus as a “fender bender”, a City of Las Vegas official told the state broadcaster that the shuttle bus would probably be back on the road today following the mishap, which took place at a junction.

"The shuttle did what it was supposed to do and stopped,” public information officer Jace Radke told the Beeb. “Unfortunately the human element, the driver of the truck, didn’t stop.”

Tail end of Dr Who's link :-)

"Germany has already decreed that robot vehicles must be programmed to kill animals and destroy property before thinking of harming humans"

I didn't get that far as I didn't think that the link was very good at all on the subject to start with (a very poor source in fact, but you always get that with The Register) and there have been many better links around about that incident, like this 1 or this 1.

Good sources will actually get people to read the lot, but poor 1's tend to put people off going too far (more so with the pic from the movie Speed).

Cheers.

He was a very determined teenager, did something wrong, got caught and the work very hard to better himself. eventually it paid off and he landed his dream job. Its a shame we don't hear more stories like this as he is a great role model for youngsters on the verge of a life of crime.
