Message 1758703 - Posted: 23 Jan 2016, 16:36:27 UTC - in response to Message 1758648.

Winning on a cool, rainy Saturday.

And that is Chris talk for:

1. ...somebody brings me a nice vintage port, a lovely Stilton and a small bowl of roasted nuts, preferably artfully arranged upon a silver platter

2. ...somebody guides me to a comfortably worn, over-sized leather chair placed strategically by the dying embers of a previously roaring fire, within the confines of my mildly musty, slightly dusty, leather bound tome filled personal library

3. ...whereupon I simply must insist that all of you leave me alone for the remainder of the evening, allowing me to fall peacefully asleep in my chair with a bemused smile playing across my port stained lips, as I dream of the glorious days of yore.

Close approximation of how I spent last evening.
Substitute reclining computer chair for the leather wing-back, and Guiness and Havarti for the Port wine and Stilton. Oh, and the fire's dying embers were a screen-saver on the old P4 box with the CRT monitor....

Winning as I reclaim over $1500 on my Flexible Spending. Always nice to have that little bonus in the New Year. It's a win

Finished at the dentist and stopping for coffee and a bite to eat now the numbness has mostly worn off.

Dentists are not fun.

I've always liked my dentists. Even when I have tooth issues...

New crown is holding in place. :-)

Me too, now I just wish they could do a full heavy duty tooth cleaning of plaque, which CA still won't allow, among other things, like partial dentures and implants, I need all 3.

That's good to hear TL. +1

Winning with sunshine coming in my window.
Break between storms, I hope.
Supposed to be one more coming late tonight,
then a couple dry days before the next batch.

My dad was a dentist and he used to have me help him in his office on Saturdays when I was in high school. To this day, I find dental offices to be relaxing and comforting places, although I certainly understand why others may not find them so relaxing.

My dentist is very nice, but I don't like having fillings. Today I had to have an old filling replaced and new small one put in. Nothing major and I am lucky that I don't have to have crowns or anything like that. Still did not like it though and I'd rather not have to have it done!

I went to one Dentist I didn't like, I think My teeth were hurting, He said that all My teeth were bad and that I needed Dentures, I said no way, so when I moved out here, I found a Dentist in town, He said most of My teeth were fine, I only had three teeth that needed pulling, two molars in My lower jaw and one in My upper jaw, now of course this was not all at once, they'd been filled when I was under 12yrs old one at a time, that's how they failed, the Dentist said He was amazed the fillings lasted so long, today I still have the other teeth, He said they needed a heavy duty cleaning, cause all Denti-Cal will pay for now is a light cleaning, to him that is a mere polishing, the cost to Me of a heavy cleaning? I was told $450.00... So I get some pain on a tooth for a few days, I put some anbesol gel on it for a day or two and then the pain goes away, the pain is caused by the plaque, tooth brushing I was told would do little or nothing, especially on the back side of My incisors. Maybe the CA Sate Legislature will in 2016 finally repeal the last of the unfair 2009 cuts to Denti-Cal and to the SSP part of My check... One can only hope.

Goodnight everyone. :-)

Just got back from my best friend's place. I assisted the U-Verse Tech in getting my best friend's new U-Verse services up and running. His home was built in the 1950's; but, the original owner revamped the phone wiring inside the whole house. So, the U-Verse Tech was able to change jacks from RJ-11 Phone Jacks to RJ-45 Ethernet Jacks at several key locations in the house. There's also a space in the Master Bedroom Closet where all the phone cabling was centralized; so, the U-Verse Gateway went there, and the DVR went at the Family Room TV location and connected to the new wall jack via Ethernet to the Gateway. A second TV Box, (a U-Verse Wireless Box), went into the office. The Wireless Access Point for the Wireless Box went to a new Ethernet Jack, also in the Family Room. The old DSL modem was pulled, and the RJ-11 Jack in the office there changed to RJ-45; then my friend's personal router was connected to the new RJ-45 wall jack - thus connecting to the Gateway in the Master Bedroom Closet.

He now has 45 Mb DL and close to 6 Mb UL, and has the U-450 TV package. He kept running SpeedTest.net not believing the new speeds he is now getting compared to the SLLLOOOWWW DSL he used to have.

TWO YEARS, I've been trying to convince him to switch to U-Verse!!! NOW he can't believe he waited so long!!! :-O

He FINALLY has HD Channels through U-Verse; something he didn't have with his old DISH Network TV setup. He didn't even have a DVR with DISH; now, he can record three streams while watching a fourth!!! He's quite pleased.

Back at the top, and WINNING!!!!! :-)
