Message 1754487 - Posted: 7 Jan 2016, 4:24:19 UTC - in response to Message 1754452.

not good on the crap side, that might get into our Pacific Ocean via Storm Drain/Runoffs.

Like Oil, cig butts...etc pp.)

Don't municipal drainage systems have catch pits and filters for all that? We do in the UK.

They do, and this is what happens

It's not flood protection that is needed, it is flood prevention.

I love that the news decided to show the flooding in Boyle HEIGHTS. I can image what it must be at the Whittier NARROWS. Heights is elevated. Narrows is where all of the water meets.

Thank you for the update WK.

The official report says, we only got a quarter inch of rain yesterday. North Stockton got at least one inch yesterday.
I had to drive home thru it.

Gordon is your weather station hard wired to your computer or wifi?

It transmits from the backyard wirelessly, but the indoor receiver/data display unit is connected to the computer with ethernet cable.

Here's my weather link again:

How far will it transmit?
How much do they cost?

My backyard is about a quarter acre away from the computer receiver in the house, so I think they go pretty far. I paid around $175 for an AcuRite with two solar panels.

This thread shows how I installed it outside:

Really cool Gordon, I looked a bunch of them on Amazon tonight. I think I found the one I want as soon as I win the big power ball on Saturday. LOL

Sure at 545 million to 1 odds it's a shoe in. LOL and if I did I think I'd take a long long trip. LOL

Raining now through this evening. Picks up again tomorrow afternoon and gets colder. A LOT colder. Saturday high in the 40s early, Sunday high low 20s at midnight, dropping all day. Highs below 20 most of the week, with at least one overnight low and lots of windchills below 0F. Also anywhere from 1/2 to 2 inches of snow.

It rains on Adelboden, Switzerland, and the Giant Slalom of the World Cup has been put out. There used to be a lot of snow in January in Adelboden.
