Most torrent video files are not H/D .

If it airs in HD, the video files are in HD.

I think it sucks that you have to pay to see it and still have to have commercials. I will not pay.

And I can absolutly understand that! There are a lot of comments to this on reddit and most ppl say the same. So I guess that many ppl from the US will either pirate the show or watch it on Netflix via VPN.

They refer to the starship Discovery as having been mentioned in one or the other Star Trek series but I don't remember it. The timeline has been referenced in one place as before the original series and in another place as taking place between TOS and TNG. The Discovery looks like a cross between the Enterprise and a Romulan warbird.

OK folks, here is what we know so far about the new series:

- It will be set in the prime universe 10 years before TOS

- The lead will be a human female. She's not a captain but a Lt. Commander "with caveats" (whatever that means)

- The series shall center around an event referenced in TOS

- Will probably have more aliens in the cast than the other ST series

- There shall be robots

- Spocks mother may be featured but will not be central

- The cast shall also feature both a male and a female admiral, a klingon captain, a male advisor and a british male doctor

- The first season will have 13 episodes which will be serialized but also feature closed end stories.

- The series will air in the US on CBS All Access (with commercials; ~12 min/h), in Canada on Bell Media and on Netflix in the rest of the world.

And of course it will be known as ST:D

And here's the first teaser:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8h9uNeIB_M

I wonder if she's Pike's "Number One" from The Cage. Originally played by "M. Leigh Hudec," a credit revision made to get Majel Barrett (Roddenberry) as Nurse Chapel past the network execs who thought Number One was too strong a female character.

You could be right there, it has been confirmed now that the female lead will be called "Number One".
And for those who don't wanna pay to be bombarded with commercials: CBS AllAccess MAY have an ad free option for $9.99/month when Discovery starts.

Have you seen all the movies and series ???
Which are your favorites?

In our TV has been only some of them ( TOG, TNG, DS9 and Voyager ).
I have never seen Animated series or Enterprice series.
Maybe I must see that Enterprice first.

And I have seen almost every movie...just not the last one yet.

Haha, we are almost on the same level. I have seen all the series except Animated. My favorites are DS9 and TNG. You definitly should watch Enterprise, I know it doesn't get much love in the fandom but I think it's a really good show and I wish there were more then just 4 seasons.
As for the movies, I have seen them all except "Beyond". But to be honest, I'm not a big fan of the movies. There are some good ones like "Generations" and "First Contact", but most are rather mediocre. And the JJ movies, hm, I don't know, they are not bad per se but it doesn't really feel like Star Trek for me.

I just cot the complete set of "Enterprise" off Amazon for £40 on blue-ray (all 4 seasons) and next generation for £50 (blue ray) . DS9 is still expensive but at over £170 so won't get that till it drops it's price
TOS i already got on dvd so won't bother with getting them , Voyager is around £50 but save up the money first for them

I have seen every episode of every live action series, except some in the middle seasons of VOY and possibly a few of ENT. I've never seen the animated series, but I'll be recording that when H&I starts running it this Sunday.

I highly recommend the newest movie. I think it's the best of the JJs. Its plot is all new, not at all related to any previous episode or movie (other than a few minor references).

However, I do not intend to pay to see this new series.

One of those silhouettes is obviously Andorian; could be Saru.

I was going to protest that Guinan first showed up in the Federation at the time of the Enterprise B launch, but then I remembered she was on Earth in the 1890s, so yes it's plausible to use her. Whoopi's a bit old now to play the character younger than before, so she may be recast.
