There has been ZERO knocks on the door for many years. Most of the Halloween is in town and at organized events.

There was a much larger (and earlier) bunch through here this year.

Still not what it used to be but.. well if the tradition is dying
it is going to take a while.

I just returned from trick-or-treating with a nephew and niece in their Walnut Creek neighborhood. Tons of kids out. My brother manned the door of their home and had already gone through more than ten bags of candy when I left.

Saw lots of kids out in our neighborhood on the drive home, but none on our street. I opened some candy and turned on our porch light when I got in, but nothing here so far.

We had maybe at the most 25 kids show up. And none after 8:15 PM, Not like the old days when it was solid kids rigt up to 9PM. I do have 4 bags of candy left out of 6. Glad I bought the kind I like to eat:)
I just didnt give one candy to the kids either. In the old days you had to. I just grabbed a handfull and tossed it in their loot sack.

Maybe its a tradition that should die out.

Many of my neighbors have gotten tired of it. Can't say I blame them. When all that arrives is groups of 15-25 kids at once and never one or two alone, it is obvious they are being bused into the neighborhood. I'd say 80 to 90% of the houses were dark this year.

Same here - 25-30 total, mostly youngsters with their parents. Started about 6:30, done by 8:00.

I bought 2 bags of candy bars (about 120 pieces), have over half of it left.
I let then pick from the bowl. Some kids reached for 1 piece, others tried to take a handful until I said "Take 2, please". I'll be nibbling at it until January.

We actually had the best turnout for Halloween here at my mother's house that we've had in many years. We had about 50 kids, which is a lot for her street. It had dwindled to a dozen or so the last 15 or 20 years. She's been in this house since 1967, and in the 1970's when I was a trick or treater, hundreds of little devils were running around, but the neighborhood has grown up.

It was a lovely night here, and we had a very happy Halloween. :~)

It was funny.
In the evening news they told us that Halloween is becoming more popular here in germany.
Last year we had 5 kids showing up.
None this year :(

None knocked on my door - perhaps they saw me testing the pair of SupaSoakers with green slime....

My neck of woods kids were streaming to/from our door in packs of 10 to 15 at a time during a 30 minute slot shortly after the town sponsored event at the neighborhood park let out.

In all had about 250 kids and do not recall seeing any duplicate costumes this year.

More kids living in our neighborhood then in the entire time we've lived here and we only had 27 kids.

Puff, the magic dragon.

One day, the magic just goes away.
Like Christmas, one day you realize that Puff is just not coming back anymore.

It was raining all day, not hard, but enough. At least a drizzle until around 7 pm or later. I said the heck with it and went out to see trains, then to Mike's house. Nobody TPed or egged me.
