Well, as most of you know, one of my molars shattered on 10-17-2015. Just got word today that my dental insurance WON'T cover ANYTHING for this issue!!!

Also, the pizza establishment has NOT contacted me regarding this; either. I'm afraid that they may deny accountability.

I am now seeking community assistance from anyone who can help.

My new GoFundMe Page is: Scott's GoFundMe Page.

Thanks in advance to any and all contributors.

My individual dental insurance is stating they WON'T cover this incident!!!

Is it not the point with insurances that accidents are paid by the insurance company?
Nor you or the pizza company can be liable to this.

BTW I have got 3 shattered teeth so I know the feeling.

Edit:
In Scandinavia we have medicare so you dont get bankrupt if those things happens.
Former PM Göran Person said that you can tell a citizen social status by looking on the teeth status on a person.
I guess he's right.

Hang in there TL, I've had 3 teeth filled and then many years later yanked, so I've been there too.

It was the temperature of the sauce. I bit into the pizza slice, but didn't even get to bite completely through when I heard a high pitched sound and a snap, and felt the molar shards break off. Therefore, the pizza place may be found liable. (If some strange woman can claim that McDonald's coffee was too hot, spilled and burned her "unmentionables", and won millions in court. I believe that sets precedence for temperature related cases... I'm NOT seeking millions of dollars; just the money necessary to get the permanent crown mounted...)

Would help if the Manager would call me back to discuss the matter; but, after trying a couple times to meet with him to find he's NEVER on site doesn't help. I had to leave a note, and my documentation with a subordinate and am waiting to hear back from the Manager...

Further complicating the "Who's at fault???" question, is that the tooth that shattered had a LARGE filling in it. When the tooth shattered, the porcelain filling disintegrated. So, all I have of the broken tooth is what remains of the outside edge that went around the filling.

The dentist said to me that 50% of the tooth is gone. I'm currently on a temporary porcelain crown.

"Who's at fault???" seems to be your dentist to me or perhaps yourself.
A LARGE filling means problems in some years.
Been there.
But here insurance companies cover that.

In this country dental insurance does not work like accident insurance. It's basically a maintenance plan. They agree to provide certain services on a schedule of their own creation.

You are quite right Carlos. A few years back My dentist told me I had a cracked molar. The choice was fix it now or wait and see if it gets bigger at your next 6 months check up. Well I to was eating a pizza. and my tooth broke. It didnt come out but was hanging by a thread. Well I had to pay the lions share on that one.
fast forward two years and my dentist said I had another crack in a molar. I told her to fix it. It cost a lot less to do the prevetive fix for that. Which was a cap. ( have a cap on the broken one also. But they had to take the broken one out and do a temp cap and all the other BS that goes with it )
And I did ask my dentist why pizza could break a tooth. She said its not uncommon at all for dough to break a tooth. She said the dough acts like a wedge, And if you have a weakness in the tooth that will break it.Im my case it was massive fillings over the years that weakend the tooth.

That's sounds more like a warranty for a car to me.
Well, here we have now medicare that works according to the Toyota-model!
There are no more patients, only customers or subjects.
But we do have dental insurances that cover larger dental treatment.

I didn't know that pizza dough could break your teeth.
Perhaps olive kernels.
In my first case it was a hard kernel in a sandwich that broke a tooth.
This reminds of me to go to a dentist.
I have not been to one for 3 years.

Pizza dough, yeah that can get hard, I'm a bit more fortunate, Medi-Cal at present will pay for minor teeth cleaning, just not major cleaning(which I do need, Dentist said $450), tooth removal and full dentures, there may be other things that Denti-Cal will pay for, just not posts, partial dentures and possibly not crowns, so I suffer with 1 missing Molar on My upper right jaw and teeth that need a major cleaning and hope the Dentists can get the CA State Legislature to restore all the Denti-Cal cuts that some demanded in 2009 in exchange for a balanced budget(the balanced budget requirement of 67%(2/3rds) for passage was fixed in 2011 by the voters, budgets now only need 50%+1 vote to pass in the Assembly and in the State Senate, some in the Legislature hate that they can't hold a budget hostage and routinely vote NO on some bills, mainly on ones that require an appropriation I think), among other cuts, like to the My SSP part of My income, in Jan and Feb 2009 I had about $907 per month of income, afterwards My income per month dropped to nearly $864 per month, I lost about $43 per month in income, since I live on My own, I get the maximum grant that I can, only people who are blind can get a bit more. SSI/SSP payments for 2015 and 2016 for people who live on their own, gets $889.40 per month. I don't get anything else, no SNAP at all, but then no one who gets SSI in CA gets SNAP(food stamps), just $10 in lieu of SNAP benefits, a policy called Cash Out(PDF) has been in effect since 1974 in CA and has never been changed once. And that's all I'll say on this, since there is no more that I could say currently.

While I would trust a dental student to clean my teeth and do x-rays; I do NOT trust a dental student to put a crown on a shattered tooth! So, no, I have not, and will NOT look at dental schools.

I want MY dentist to do the work.
