And how do some girls so young connect with a song written and first sung like, eons ago?
I suppose, music is timeless.
Kayla Estes.
It gives me some hope at times when the world is crashing all around me that some still find hope and inspiration in the words some of us laid down so many years ago.

Fischia il vento, urla la bufera
Scarpe rotte, eppur dobbiamo andar
Per conquistare la rossa primavera
Dove spunta il Sol dell'Avvenir

If you are ever at a loss what to listen to................
Here is something.
Nessun Dorma by the greatest tenor ever to sing it.
My little speakers are barely up to the task.

And kids, if that does not bring you to tears, you are beyond all hope.

And I do suggest, that just once in your life, you listen to Puccini's masterpiece in it's entirety.
If you sit down and listen to it all, your life may be changed.
Pavarotti is not the only one who voiced it./
There are several others who successfully did so.
None of which are still surviving.

Except for this gentleman.
Paul Potts.
The only living man I am aware of that can do this.
Pavarotti was the ultimate, but Paul comes very close.

Any others I should be aware of?
Please advise if there are.

Oh, thank you Jann.
That is exactly the version I wanted to find but could not.
You are priceless.

I was looking for that so hard, and just could not get there.
I am profoundly thankful you shared that with me.

In your debt, I am.
You have gifted me with a thousand tears.
And happy ones they are.

Amen, my friend.
I cannot repay you today.
One day I shall, somehow./

I won't get halfway cross town and I will tell Lori I am sorry and bed down for the night.
Because nothing 'tween her and me has ever been worth the fight.
It seems that angry words are just temporary things.
And just dawn breaks each day, some new word it does bring.

DId I tell you how beautiful you look , dear today?
Did I forget to tell you I am thankful for your gaze?
Did I try to tell you just how much I care.
That you are mine................and just how much I care/.
In damn so many ways.

I understand that I don't 'own', you,
But I do know that you are mine.
From each morning that I wake up until the end of time.
We are forever.

In my humble opinion today's best tenor is Jonas Kaufman, a German who speaks perfect Italian. I've recorded him in a "Lohengrin" conducted by Daniel Barenboim at La Scala on December 7 2012. This year's opening was a " Madama Butterfly," conducted by Riccardo Chailly.

Liszt Concert number 1 on the Swiss TV and Number 2 on the Italian Radio3. The conductor and the orchestra are the same: Budapest Festival orchestra and Ivan Fischer conductor. Of course they are recorded.
