Okay, by (un)popular demand, here it is, the next round of: SETI's very own, totally separate from the other one on the server at Einstein@home, jumbled word game. Simple rules: Previous winner posts a jumbled word or phrase. Other people try to unjumble it. The first person to do so, after it is confirmed by whoever posted it, posts the next word. If the poster doesn't confirm it within a reasonable time and the solver is absolutely sure, he/she may post the next one without confirmation. Multiple posts, and multiple guesses within a post ARE allowed. Silly definitions of obviously incorrect solutions are not mandatory and will always be appreciated. [ I may award marks for what I personally judge to be funny/witty/silly/etc efforts. No penalty otherwise ... :-) ] If no one gets it after a day or two, the poster may give hints. Discussion of anything posted in the thread is allowed at any time, although it should stay at least somewhat related to the jumbled word(s). It is highly suggested that the poster either write down the correct word or send her/himself a PM with it. Responses must be 'kid friendly' etc, etc, or they *will* be moderated. Use of an internet word scrambling/descrambling site is considered cheating. |

I'm guessing Mr. Smith knows the answer. To be able to get the answer so quickly, Mr. Smith must have a large, um, er, store of words in his brain. |

Now I'm the winner both here and Einstein. (Unless someone has gotten Einstein since I looked in this morning.) [edit] Odd. Nobody has posted anything in Cafe Einstein since I did 12 hours ago. It's like when Annie's sick, the whole gang there is sick. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

Oh. You won, David. Well done. *open bin* *HURL hardwork* into it* Thanks, Admiral. Here's a good one for this week. I presume that is the new word...? *turn up nose* Thank you. I can't wait to fiddle with it... *open bin* :) *hardwork: RubaryVocal – similar to a nasal twang but emanating from the larynx instead |

Thanks, Admiral. Here's a good one for this week. Yes, that is the new word, and I already gave you a hint on it. I have just realized that the hint applies doubly. I will tell you further that the jumble has NO letters correct. David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

Professor Lupin at Hogworts Academy might have a answer. He might... David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

Professor Lupin at Hogworts Academy might have a answer. Oh. I thought when you said it was pertinent this week, that you meant earthquakes and tremors and stuff related to them... which is why I got very excited by this: Hypocentral - something to do with/about the depth at which the epicentre of an earthquake originates, I think. Does professor Lupin dabble in earth-shifting at all...? Lonctherapy - honeysuckle therapy - traditional Hungarian remedy, free to all those with the name Lupin Holcneytrap - backstreet spa in Hackney, London, that promises all the benefits of lonctherapy - but gets you arrested instead. EctypalHorn - a type of blowing into it thing blown into in order to make a racket. Made from a mold that was made from a prototype - that was erm... made by Professor Lupin... |

Professor Lupin at Hogworts Academy might have a answer. Nope. A totally different aspect of this week. Or rather, two sorta kinda not really very related to each other aspects of it. which is why I got very excited by this: Are you the only person in England who doesn't know about Lupin? EctypalHorn - a type of blowing into it thing blown into in order to make a racket. That's something that may or may not also be related to this week. Correct letters per guess: 1-1 2-3 3-2 4-1 Correct usage by position: once each in 1, 2, 5, 8, 9, 10. Definition hint: contrary to the word at Einstein, I think -- and certainly hope -- you are no more of one than I or anyone else I know. Are you the only person in England who doesn't know about Lupin? As I haven't asked everyone in England, David, I can't see how you can possibly expect me to say... and anyway, I much prefer Snape :) As for how you expect me to make WEREWOLF out of this... *slide disparaging gaze down nose* ...this junk *point at junk* -> ACEHLNOPRTY I don't know either. Even trying to make canis lupis only gives me canr lopehty Will that do you? :) |
