I was flushing a bunch of old units after restoring an internet connection to my main computer. But I might have sent in duplicates of some other units I copied over to a system I was using until I got my PC back. Hows that going to hurt my results?

I know the Units are sent out three times for classic, do all three recievers get credit?

No ...

Look in the credit section of the BOINC FAQ and be prepared to be bored to death ...

I am wonking on migration of the old FAQ to a faq management tool and I am not close to being done and I already have 175 topics ...

I should clear on note up, reading over my first post, I might have confused matters, the old units flushing are classic units, not BOINC yet. Not until next week in any case.

Per analysis of the numbers, work units are sent out at least 7 or 8 times on classic, and Dr. Anderson has said it is at least a dozen (12) times in his speech at CPDN's open house last year. This is one of the reasons for the BOINC transition... To eliminate the busywork.

On BOINC, S@H work units are issued to 4 (currently...it was just 3 until a week or two ago) people initially, and only go out to more if they pass the deadline (2 weeks without being returned), or they have processing errors (and don't validate). More are sent out (if needed) until either 3 returned results agree in the validation, or 8 total have been sent... In the first case, all that pass validation get credit. In the 2nd case, the work unit is flagged as bad.

Edit: Paul Buck's FAQ is great! It will answer most all questions people have about BOINC. Great job, Paul!

Thank you! Thank You!

Now for my next trick ...

Did you look at the old ones, or the new one? As near as I can tell so far I am the only one who has gone to the new one so far ...

Perhaps your counter is broken then. People have been by!

(BTW, the "Rules of the Site" and "Community" links are broken on the main page.)

Why not, it seems every thing else is broken ... :(

Ok, fixed ... not that there is anything to see there ... I have been working hard on other things ... for one thing to not download all of the images in the Web Site Owner's Manual ...

Ah well, it keeps me off the street corners and out of pool rooms ....
