I just heard for the first about this radio telescope being built in China. Curious why there hasn't been more talk about this in the SETI community? It seems that it is being built with the express purpose of conducting SETI type searches. I cannot seem to find many articles about it, but wouldn't this scope be a game changer of sorts?

Does this mean China will leap to the forefront of ETI search capability almost overnight? It looks like the project will be fully constructed by late next year.
