My win install is running fine again. So i tried my Mint 17.1 partition. It does nothing, just a black screen. Anyone complains about windows ? Tried the recovery mode without luck. How do i update the drivers when i can`t get into the system ? Any help is much appreciated. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

If it's anything like the bootloader setup on my Ubuntu+Fedora rig, In the boot loader you should be able to press a key for boot options, and select the boot section to edit. Once into the edit thing, add 'text' before the splash option, and it should boot to a textonly prompt to let you reinstall drivers. At one point with nv I did have to put in some weird options as well, but that was only needed with a certyain card and driver series. I suspect you won;t need to go that far, and just getting to a command prompt will do. "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. My win install is running fine again. What happen if you type Ctrl+Alt+F1 or Ctrl+Alt+F2 simultaneously? That should drop you into a console session. Beyond that it gets hairy, so let's see if you get that far first of all. |

Hopefully you know which version of Ubuntu your Linux Mint is based on (see Wikipedia) : http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu _\|/_ U r s |

Hopefully you know which version of Ubuntu your Linux Mint is based on : I fear my card is not supported by Linux for now. Not really a way around win. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

I fear my card is not supported by Linux for now. I have read somewhere maybe on Planet 3d now Linux doesN`t support new hardware. You should be at least able to log in and change drivers. Thats a minimum to me. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

I fear my card is not supported by Linux for now. If your old driver does not recognize your new GPU than your only way will be using the command line, the shell. _\|/_ U r s |

I fear my card is not supported by Linux for now. With nv cards I have to do that every time there is a kernel update, or a driver update, so seems not a unique situation. There's an AMD Radeon (TM) R9 390 Series working in Ubuntu right here, http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=4420488973 A while back it was changed to where the new kernel update didn't require a new driver install on AMD cards, don't know about nVidias... |

Is there going to be a updated Boinc version for Linux to detect latest AMD GPU`s ? This was the only way to get my 380 to work for windows. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Have you tried uninstalling the Driver from AMD and installing the one in 'Additional Drivers' with AMD App 1729.3? Seems strange Zombu can get his AMD 390 to work where you can't get a 380 to work. I just went through the 'Missing OpenCL' again with Ubuntu 14.04.3 and BOINC. Ubuntu has been pushing that driver for a couple months and I've been resisting. For Me Cat 14.6 works better. This time I didn't see the driver update listed and when the Updater ran it installed the new driver with AMD-App 1729.3...again. After that BOINC once again claimed NO OPENCL even though clinfo said otherwise. I just looked in usr/lib and all that was there was a file, Not a Link, named libOpenCL.so.1 . I made a link to the File, named it libOpenCL.so, and then BOINC decided I had OpenCL. |

You'll need a new BOINC 7.6.12(+) built after October 5th 2015, as that's the date my new AMD GPU detection code got added to the 7.6 branch. This 7.6.12 for Ubuntu was built on October 31st. You can also add Locutus of Borg's PPA to your system's Software Sources and get frequently updated builds from there. Don't hold your breath for Berkeley to build a new version any time soon, they haven't got the man power or money. (Although usually when I post things like this, within a week they do release new versions. ;-)) Edit: Of course, you can also try building the client yourself, using CompileClient as a guide. |

It is simply amazing. Updated to Boinc 7.6.12 and still getting .......................... So 08 Nov 2015 14:38:40 CET | | Starting BOINC client version 7.6.12 for x86_64-pc-linux-gnu What i have tried so far. - sudo apt-get update - sudo apt-get dist-upgrade - sudo apt-get install lib32gcc1 - sudo aticonfig --initial --force - reboot Also made links to libOpenCL.so and libOpenCL.so.1 - sudo aticonfig --initial --force - reboot Boinc still refuses to detect my GPU. One thing is for sure if Linux wants to become a windows replacement it has to get more user friendly. This is very annoying. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Try just doing a sudo /etc/init.d/boinc-client restart Claggy |
