[size=12]After an upgrade of OSx to El Capitan, BOINC wasn't allowed to run on my Mac Book Pro due to a problem with "permissions". Instead of deleting the current version of BOINC, with all the wu's pending reporting and others waiting for their turn to start, I simply downloaded the current version and installed it. No further problems noted. YMMV, but I suggest trying a reinstall before trashing the old version if you upgrade. Good luck, Fanbois and girls. :-)

Hi,
Since you're running El Captain I'm hoping you can help me.
I just bought the new iMac, running El Captain.
Since I've used SETI for years, I basically know how it works.
I got it installed all right, but I can't get the graphics to show.
Any ideas??
Thanks.

Not all work units have a graphic component like the old apps did.

Is it processing the work units?

I have had the same no project screensaver graphics issue also since update to El Capitain. Always had it with Yosemite.

Seti@home v7 7.07 (ssse3)

Boinc 7.6.12

Show Graphics button greyed out also.

Recently upgraded my 27 late 2013 iMac to El Capitan. Now "show graphics" in task command is greyed out, so can no longer view them. Re installed BOINC for Seti at Home project and no improvement. Please advise. It ran before in Yosemite. Thanks.

Hello everyone.

New applications were release for the Mac recently.

These provided better computations on the work units as well as more diversity in which resources could be used to crunch the data (ie...CPU vs Nvidia graphic vs onboard graphic of the Intel chip)

As part of the new applications, a decision was made to remove the graphic portion (show graphic) in order to get optimization of the application.

Only the very older and much slower CPU applications still have graphics display. Since these tend to be less efficient, eventually BOINC will decide not to run these in favor of the new and faster apps.

The upgrade to El Capitan has nothing to do with the loss of the "show graphics"

Apologies if this has caused any distress to a user who misses the graphics display.

My main reason for running SAH was the graphics. I am not happy with the change.

Agreed, graphics got others to ask about and maybe join.Would rather take graphics over Efficiency, things are fast enough now a days that the graphics had little impact IMHO.

SETI@home has stopped working on my Mac. I've been running El Capitan for over a week and had no problems until yesterday. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling BOINC, but my task window shows that the GPU is suspended and nothing is happening. Any suggestions?

I don't see that there is any work units downloaded to your computer.

Do you see a work unit in your cache?

Yesterday was maintenance day on the servers.

Since then, they have had problems generating new work units.

Many people don't have any work at this time. So it's hard to say if it's because there is no work available or if there is a problem.

Have you tried to run a different project and see if boinc starts back up?

The newly released BOINC 8 is compatible with El Capitan I guess.
Uninstall version 7 and replace it with version 8.
Everything should work fine then.

There is no BOINC 8 yet, the latest release is 7.6.22
Seti has new science applications that are version 8, but unless you added your applications in the past through the anonymous platform, these will automatically update. Only if you added them yourself do they need to be replaced by you.
