Hi all ;) I've 2 PC running S@H Boinc in the latest version. The first is a AMD 2600XP and the second is a PIII 1Ghz. The fatest is, of course, the AMD with about 3 hours for completion, and about 8 hours for the PIII 1Ghz. My problem is : with the AMD I have about 10 WU in queue, I think is normal, but with the PIII, which is the slower one, I have about 20 WU in queue !?! It's clear that most of the WU crunching with the PIII will be overdated because this PC is not runnung all day. To add anoher problem with this PC is that I format and reinstall the PC yesterday and S@H Boinc download about 20 WU again, I think I'll get mad ;). So if someone has a clue about it. For information, I've tried with and without separate preference and no changing. Aeron San, from France |

First and foremost, welcome to the message boards! As for solutions, check your host's preferences - You'll find them at http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/prefs.php?subset=global. I believe that the answer will be there, possibly by changing the time between network connections and the maximum amount of disk space to be used for BOINC. I hope that helps you, and once again, welcome! |

Hi 7822531 (this is your real name ? ;) ) Thanks for your answer. I have a look at the host's preference but to handle the 2 PC in a different way, I must add separate preference. And, apparently, there are much problem and/or bugs with separate preference. I already try with separate preference about 3 month with no success. To be more sharp about my PCs, the AMD is running about 10 hours a day and the PIII about 3 hours a day. In fact, the number of WU in queue must be the inverse for my PC, 20 for the faster and 10 for the slower. I'll retry with separate preference, who knows, it could works this time ;) Aeron San, from France |

Well, I honestly can't say for sure that the answer is going to be in the preferences, but intuition tells me so. Have you checked each host's preferences individually? I remember having this problem before, but I can't remember the solution. We have a large group of crunchers, so someone will always be around to correct any bad advice I've given out! :-D As for "7822531" being my name, it most certainly isn't. For reasons I'd rather not get in to right now, my username will be restored in a few hours from now. |

Just look here. You have to set connect to Server every x days to a low value. probably 0.5 or 1 works alright. BOINC Doc | Team-Site | BOINC-Podcast |

Hi Boba Fett This is just what I've done !! I don't know if this will work because I'm at work for the moment and my PC are at home. I'll tell in a few days if this work. Thanx all Aeron San, from France |

Machines that are on part of the time download assuming that they are on all of the time the first time that they are connected. After that, BOINC should (if it doesn't, then we need to know about it) figure out that the duty cycle is BOINC WIKI |
