Judging!

It is always fun to work with bright creative people, but
as this is the forms, so here we go.

Honorable mention = Gary Charpentier. = Tim Horton's, better than Viagra.
So I have heard.

Second honorable mention = ProticalMan =
"Now that I am not ruining a country any more, I have more free time to do the things I love, Scaring little children down at the local park.."
If I leave him out, Nona will get me.

Third: = Admiral Gloval = "I didn't earn the name "Slick Willy" for nothing..."
Mostly because his name is Steve.

Second: = KWSN THE Holy Hand Grenade! = "stirred, not shaken, please..."
Sure, like Dear Leader would know the difference.

Winner: = Michael Roberts = "I'm too sexy for my shirt"
Looks like Dear Leader needs glasses as well.

Thank you all for playing. PM going out now!

Thanks Ian. Too bad you couldn't post the entire painting, but the mod rules are rules. Then I could have said something about the dog!

Thank you for the win, Ian.

First, a digression. Some time ago, Mr. Grenade posted a picture of Manet's Le déjeuner sur l'herbe, and shortly after that I had the opportunity to see a retrospective of his paintings in Venice, including a smaller copy by Manet of that painting and, side by side, his Olympia and Titian's Venus of Urbino. That juxtaposition was unforgettable, although my favourite painting was the Portrait of Berthe Morisot with Bouquet of Violets which, with its remarkable highlights reflected off black silk, has to be seen in the original for the full effect. So thanks to Mr. Grenade for providing the inspiration for that visit. I was reminded of this because the pose of the current picture is reminiscent of Olympia.

Anyway, what next? I think we will turn to

The Aged Aged Man by John Tenniel

It is a bit surreal that the annotations to that file on Wikimedia Commons are only in Russian, but the title here links to a page in English.

Special consideration will be given to captions in the metre of Lewis Carroll's poem. There is at least one contrived pun waiting in the wings...

Clearly we are underwhelmed by the prospect of imitating Lewis Carroll!

Mr Grenade gets a bonus point for recognising the White Knight, but loses it again for mentioning Humpty-Dumpty!

I was hoping for entries something like:

"Who are you, aged man?" I said,
"And how is it you live?"
His answer trickled through my head,
Like water through a sieve.

He said, "I look in foreign skies
For wheat among the chaff:
I search among the signal cries
For sense in every graph.

Thus passed my simple, simple span,
with SETI, on a gate"

Thanks to both contestants for playing. Mr Grenade wins by the shortest of the White Knight's whiskers, with Lynn a close second.

The White Rabbit has promised to deliver the good news with the minimum possible delay.
