http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl-raw-images/msss/01100/mcam/1100ML0048710060500490E01_DXXX.jpg Looks just like the Mojave, doesn't it? So familiar I could almost swear I've been there. |

I love this idea for a thread. The APOD has been my default browser homepage for a long time, and I was very excited to see the first images when Curiosity landed on Mars. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl/images/PIA17936_fig1-full.jpg Truly amazing. That tiny spot contains about 7 billion humans. Countless of animals and plants. Boy are we lucky:) |

Also the earth is visible in the sky above the surface of Mars. The moon is faintly visible below the earth at about 5 AM/PM. Apparently someone else already noticed. |

http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl-raw-images/proj/msl/redops/ods/surface/sol/00777/opgs/edr/ncam/NRB_466479293EDR_F0430000NCAM00285M_.JPG Took some digging to find this again. I think the thinness of the atmosphere and the reduced gravity do things with dust that produce patterns you might see here under shallow flowing water but not on land. Some of the pictures from the Mars Orbiter are truly bizarre. |

What I love about those rovers: - Opportunity: planned 90 sols, today 4100+s! - Curiosity: planed 668s, today 1100+s! ;) unfortunately, Spirit died after about 2200s...& it was also planed for only 90s! :( non-profit org. Play4Life in Zagreb, Croatia, EU |
