"Not the brightest bulb in the package"...
Man Called 911 On Himself 38 Times, Gets Arrested For Making False Claims

CHICAGO (South Lawndale neighborhood)— A Chicago man called police on himself nearly 40 times, only to be arrested for making the false 911 calls, Illinois State Police said Thursday.

[He] made at least 38 calls in which he contacted dispatchers anonymously and told them that he was driving erratically and pointing a gun at other drivers, State Police said in a news release Thursday.

....... snip .......

An investigation determined that Green had made the calls, and thus was reporting himself to police for crimes he did not commit.

Green was arrested Wednesday and was charged with one felony count of disorderly conduct. He is being held in lieu of $100,0000 bond, State Police said.

I was on our balcony just now and watching the hare that are as usually on grass field just outside.
Two young children aged about 7 or 8 from the Middle East and neighbours to us shouted "Oh My God".
Yes. In English:)

I'm certain that before they went to school they only knew Arabic, or perhaps Kurdish!

My drivers seat is all the way back, plus the seat is fully upright at present(and in better shape than the original drivers seat), as a result I have only 1 fingers worth of headroom in My car with Me in the car, yes I can reach the wheel perfectly, though turning it is another matter, turning the wheel I'm working on, I'm going to change the column to a tilt steering wheel, I'm only $20 short of that now. I had to buy the cover for a tilt steering column first, thankfully the part is in brown/tan since that was what was available(It was also the last available, for who knows how long), but then of the 6 years that the Escort zx2 was made, the hot coupe was made for only 2 years, so some parts are scarce, I'm just hoping the tilt column is still there on August 1st.

The column will cost Me $42.74 delivered, installation maybe $100 at Ford, possibly in August. While I'm there I can get a free seat belt extender too.

The tilt cover cost Me $30.46 delivered.

The drivers seat that I sit on I think is made of pot metal(Ford did this in 1980's Mustang's I was told, so pot metal here is a possibility too), on the left there are 2 big holes where bolts would mount the seat to the mounting rails, the rails are sturdy(go figure). The top of the pic is the back of the old drivers seat. There should be 2 braces, not just 1, the new(to Me) Black drivers seat has 2 braces, this old seat has only 1, so naturally I sit higher in the seat now...

I accidentally put 89 octane in my car today. It was only a gallon, so hopefully I didn't screw things up too badly. The car is rated for 87, but I've heard that putting anything different in can harm a car because it's computer is set to run on a specific octane only.

No problem....higher is better than lower, as it will not cause knocking. It does not provide any benefit however, so there is no reason to spend extra money on higher octane than what your car needs.
Your car will be just fine.

As I understand it, in most cases there are only two tanks at the gas station - 87 and 91-93 octane. The 89 is a mix of the other two. Only one or two gallons should not have a significant effect, it will be diluted by the rest of the gas in the tank.

Most cars that run on regular (87) gas do not suffer from using a higher octane fuel. It is the high-performance engines that are designed to run on premium (91-93) that suffer performance issues when routinely run on lower-octane fuel.

But whatever you do, don't put diesel in your regular gas tank. I had a buddy do that to his motorcycle (long trip, tired, not paying enough attention). When he started it up, his bike called him names he hadn't heard since he got out of the Navy. His riding buddies still give him the business about it....

It is! It's lovely to see him, isn't it :)

edit: I never know whether I should put a question mark after those kind of sentences, or not. As you can see here *point there* I didn't.

If you think that is interesting, you should look at rear disc brakes for the:
Mazda MX3, Protege, 323, Mercury Tracer, Ford Escort GT, and the zx2...

I may one day call a junk yard and just get a rear brake assembly, tried looking
online for dust shields, spindle, lots of expensive Ford part numbers, though I
did find this site: http://www.clubprotege.com/wil/tech/partinterchangability.htm

Here in Australia they are all separate tanks for the different octane ratings.
There's 91, 95 & 98 rated fuels. There is also E10 which is 10% alcohol and meant to be rated at 94.

Higher octane doesn`t hurt.
My rental was designed for 87 but i always used 89 or 91.
Drove more than 4000 miles without any issues.

Higher octane doesn`t hurt.

True.

In older (pre EFI/ electronic engine management) engines, running lower octane fuel could easily kill an engine due to knocking (pre-ignition). However these days even cars designed for 98 octane fuel will run on 91, however their performance is significantly reduced.
Running a higher octane fuel than the minimum required won't do any harm, but it doesn't provide any better economy or performance, for considerably more money (up here 98 octane fuel can cost as much as 12c/l more than for 91 octane).

While most Escort zx2 cars get about 100hp out of their engines, the sport
version gets 130hp in a 2.0L(4 cyl) engine, what grade of gasoline do I use? 87,
the car works just fine, but then I've never looked at 89 and 91 gas, neither
one ever entered My mind.

Women's Institute is the 'biggest organised crime group', police sergeant says

They may be the very heart of middle England, with their famed jam and Jerusalem, a century of campaigning and membership including the Queen.

But it seems the genteel façade of the Women’s Institute may in fact be the masking a hotbed of crime.

A police officer has described none other than the WI of being the “biggest organised crime group” the UK faces, thanks to their network of members picking wild berries to sell at fetes.

"The WI are the biggest organised crime group,” he said. “That would be quite a controversial thing to say but they pick wild berries with the intent to sell them at a fete. That's a crime."

His comments, filmed at the meeting by a resident, sparked laughter from his amused audience.

Cambridgeshire Police confirmed the offence is classed as theft and falls under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and Theft Act 1968, under which it is illegal to pick flowers, fruit or foliage for commercial purposes without authorisation.

The maximum sentence for anyone prosecuted over this offence is seven years imprisonment.

Other bizarre laws which have been passed in British history:

The 1313 Statute Forbidding Bearing of Armour means no one can take weapons into Prime Minister's Questions.

The Library Offences Act of 1898 means it is still illegal to use your local reading room as a casino.

It is legal for a male to urinate in public, as long as it is on the rear wheel of his motor vehicle and his right hand is on the vehicle.

It is illegal for a lady to eat chocolates on a public conveyance.

It is illegal to beat or shake any carpet rug or mat or erect washing lines in any street in London.

A licence is required to keep a 'lunatic'.

Haunting image.

Is It A Ghost? Haunting Photo Taken At Deadly Crash Scene Causes Stir

A haunting photo of a deadly crash scene has gone viral because of what it appears to capture.

The roadside photo shows a crowd gathered around a motorcycle crash victim. Above the first responders’ heads hovers a transparent shadow eerily resembling a human figure.

You guys did notice the radio show this is from? The same show that brought stories like "Saskatchewan government to teach teens how to kiss" and "World's first volunteer run, non-profit McDonalds opens in Manitoba". Don't take them too seriously.

WARNING: Canadian humour may be misleading to others.
