Please don't shoot me for the following 2 questions, i'm just a beginner...

1. Even though I have put max CPU to 25% ("<cpu_usage_limit>") it still exceeds when I run the linux "top" command.
It shows Seti@home (process BOINC, command setiathome_7.01)
with CPU going to 33% and more sometimes.

2. when I ran "boinccmd --get_state" it first showed for CPU "not suspended".
After I ran boinccmd --read_cc_config (trying to force the CPU limit, was that the good way?), it shows CPU "suspended: unknown reason" but it still shows up in my "top" command??

When setting the Use at most N% of CPU time setting, this doesn't put a sustained set value to the usage, but instead tells BOINC to suspend and resume the science applications according to the value set.

25% means you have a 1 second run, 4 seconds idle, 2 second run, 3 seconds idle, 1 second run, 4 seconds idle, etc. The run time is at full speed (100%) if it manages to reach that. When seen in a graph, it'll show a saw effect.

Thanks for explaining the 25%

Still leaves me puzzled about the CPU status being suspended.

I do see the "fraction done" rising, with --get_state but I don't know if something is wrong.

I guess there should be a page explaining what each of the boinccmd outputs mean but I can't find any...

boinccmd -h will show what they do.

And otherwise, there's the BOINC User Wiki: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Boinccmd_tool

Thanks but that I already found .
To be honest they are not much of help appart from all the options available.

I love this project (both BOINC and SETI), really, and I'm sure all the people involved here help out as much as you can, but the documentation has room for much improvement.

Details on what each of the subcommand results mean would be handy.

I'll look around and experiment myself some more, hopefully contributing some information myself to share with others.

Having said this: one task was finished and uploaded this morning 07:00UTC according to stdoutdae.txt (but nothing in the stats ... yet)

So... still confused about the "suspended, reason unknown" thingy.
