I'm surprised no one has posted this in the Café yet, but it appears Wes Craven, famous director of horror thrillers in the 1980s such as Nightmare on Elm Street and People Under the Stairs, and Scream, died yesterday of brain cancer. He was 76 years old. The Nightmare on Elm Street series particularly scared the hell out of me when I was younger, though now I enjoy watching how cheesy some of the scenes really were. Craven definitely had a knack for horror and visual effects that were breakthrough for the time. Were you a fan of his movies? |
