Both download and upload are set at a max of 1024 kilobytes/second in the web preferences, not doing overriding through local preferences.(*)

Why limit it at all?

I would always enter a value in it, because i do not trust setting it to zero (no restriction)works.

Zero means nothing, so i rather put huge value in for no restriction (like 800Mbit/sec)

edit: and there might be a bug in the download speed reduction, that nobody has discovered, yet.

Why limit it at all?

Primarily because I am a BOINC alpha tester.
And as already observed, it doesn't matter in this, as the download speeds I reach at Seti are nowhere near the limits I set.

I just downloaded TGBBO at 21MB/sec through P2P, just goes to show that I easily reach those speeds.

The problem with setting a value to zero in BOINC is that zero means three different things, depending on how that particular section of code was coded:

A) literal, actual zero
B) assume defaults
C) disabled

I try not to use zero unless I want it to be A or C.

So, try setting it(temporarily) to a very high value and see!

No value set for the download and upload values means no limit.

Here's a list of uploads to please Rasputin...
The first two are just done with no limits set on downloads and uploads.
The second is one that was done earlier with the limits set.
And the rest of them is uploads throughout the year, to show that there's not much difference in them speeds.

Can't show you uploads yet as my cache is full. Will have to wait for that, but am pretty sure there's nothing changed there either.

I must iterate that I am not looking for a solution to get a faster download or upload speed, these suit me fine. That I was showing the speeds I reach was in answer to Cosmic_Ocean's question if there was any speed difference seen between the previous Hurricane Electric connection and the one through Berkeley Campus Internet.

I also must iterate that I know that around Berkeley there are exchanges that have a maximum speed of 5MBit up and down. It all depends on how you reach Berkeley, from what direction, how many hops between you and there and the speed of those hops.

@Richard

Can you do an update of these chart:

Here goes. This is my estimate of how much MB work has been processed with the SaH v7 app (including autocorrelations), and how much might conceivably remain to be reprocessed.

The 'TOTAL' column is what I've posted in the data distribution thread, including new tapes received since the start of 2015. The v7 column is what I've done since the SaH v7 launch date (June 2013), and the v6 only column is the difference between the two. Looks like we've processed roughly 600 tapes since I last drew up this table - say 200 new tapes and 400 reprocessed (about 40 of the earlier tapes we're running through at the moment seem not to have been processed at all the first time round).

Current figures:
Recorded	TOTAL Processed with Processed with
SaH v7 (since Sah v6 only
				launch June 2013)	(derived)

2007 350 4 346

2013 590 585 5

Well this is strange, I have an AP download that is struggling at 0-5 KB download ... and then I got 3 more tasks that came in at 400-500 easily.

First task has been going for 11 minutes.

just got another task that zoomed right in.

Yes, as I posted in the AP thread some 35 minutes ago. AP's are back, much earlier than expected. That something should struggle in the fist hours after the AP outage, isn't exactly any surprise.

I wasn't sure if those data sets would generate any actual AP work, but I already have ~150 new AP across my machines.

While at the same time, the number of "Results out in the field" has grown to over 4.5 million - the highest number for over a year.

The shorty storm will have contributed to that, but let's hope the database isn't getting infested by ghosts again.
