I'd discovered after I bought the tv, that some parts are just not made anymore.

The tv was made in August of 2011.

Golly, talk about planned obsolescence.

Yeah, Samsung cut production, to try and get more profit, they got sued. Still a lack of parts seems to be a problem, another board is the only quick way to fix this problem, outside of turning the tv off, removing all the cables from the back, taking the back off, discharging the tv by trying to power the set without being hooked up to electricity, then removing the board and sending that board in for repairs, which I'm pretty sure would cost at least $104.95 to at most $123.45 total, since I'd be sending the board in a flat rate USPS box with bubblewrap for padding to protect the board from being broken while in transit, plus I bought 10 bags for this eventuality, 10 was the minimum order for a 10"x12" bag size and I bought some clear packing tape for shipping.

Oh and the $307 also had an 8.45% fee, so only $290.95 reached Me and every cent got used, I'm broke again, but at least I'm not owing the bank any money like last month.

Well good for you Dull, I don't have the tools or the skills to do so with, nor the parts, which I also can't get, nor do I know which parts need replacing.

I'll be lucky to buy a replacement power board...

Oh and yer on eggshells here Dull, I'm pretty sure yer not exactly liked here, tolerated maybe, so be good and keep your comments positive please. This is your only warning.

Back in the 70's, when I was growing up, whenever the color or horizontal hold wasn't doing what it was supposed to do, we had a regular tv repairman. My mother would call Stewart's dept. store, and somebody would come out and tinker around behind the set, usually giving me a burnt out tube as a souvenir!

I still see houses with the old aerial antennas on the roof, too.

I remember those days, Dad bought a new color tv, though the console He bought had no remote control capability, just two knobs, VHF(2-13) and UHF(14-83), just to watch the Apollo space program launches, it was very educational. I still have a UHF amplified tv antenna(11 channels out of 12) and some triple shielded coax cable too, just in case cable tv goes out and that has happened.

It is a thread for people, like me, who like to take apart machines and repair them.

Yeah, I Think I Understand Now.

Thanks for Clarifying, and The WARNING.

I was a baby when the Moon landing took place, but I do remember the tv set that my parents watched it on was a b&w and had legs. Shortly after that, they got a Zenith color set, but the first remote controlled set we had was in 1982, a Zenith System 3. ~Pretty state of the art at the time, just below a Sony Trinitron.

Dad bought a Magnavox, He had one of those huge Magnavox Stereo systems and a Console for the TV, but not the all in one types that I've seen online.
The stereo looked somewhat like this on below, My uncle also had the same model of stereo as My Dad did, it was one of few areas where they agreed on.

We had it for years until it was damaged in an earthquake, Oakland got a 4.0 recently, I'm stirred, but not shaken.

My mother still has her Zenith console stereo, and I have her newer audio equipment parked on top of it. Those old console stereos were cool because of the stackable design for the records.

Ok I did find 3 more New "Samsung BN44-00424A" power boards, they cost:

before shipping: $147.47 to $156.00,
with shipping: $159.27 to $173.95..

Not cheap, but they are available, I used the term between the quote marks in the search, a lot of places are out. I will look for others, lower cost might be just out of stock.

I saw the picture of the power board you posted, and saw the symptom on the TV. You may just be able to replace the capacitors on the power board. It looks to me like the electrolytic capacitor(s) are drying out, or breaking down. If that is the case, it would certainly be less expensive than a whole new board, but soldering is required.

Well that's the problem Steve, there are no kits to be had to replace any caps, Sure there is one on Amazon, problem is the ad is from ShopJimmy and their site says the kit is out of stock, so it's just repair services, 2 on ebay and 1 at ShopJimmy.com, the repair would cost about $104.95 total, the cost of a used power board is a minimum of $105.99 w/free shipping & a 30 warranty, I'd save down time and the initial cost difference is about $1.04. I could later on spend the $104.95 to repair the extra power board & then swap that in.

Also I don't have more than a lowly Radio Shack 20w iron and I've never been able to desolder anything.

The soldering is the worst problem. I wouldn't look for kits, but individual capacitors. I see 9 capacitors that I would suspect, and you could most likely get them for under $20. Of course that might not be the problem, but as a former TV repairman, that is where I would look, assuming that the problem is coming from the power board. I realize that to be certain of a fix, you would need the schematic, and a meter, or possibly an oscilloscope to probe around and find the faulty component. There is no good way to troubleshoot a board like that, without having it actually connected to the other hardware, which is also problematic, as it exposes you to significant voltages.

Oh well, I wish you luck in getting it fixed.

I don't have any of these: schematic, a meter, or an oscilloscope. It's been noted online that the problems are caused by 105C rated caps, something I'd hope would be avoided.

But thanks Steve.

If I do need some help in the future, there is a gofundme account setup, this would be for car repairs or something that would take years for Me to do without help. Right now I'm going to resort to a payday lender in Barstow CA, even though it will take until January or February to pay down.

The old tv has technically been sold, but I'm not sure if the winning bidder really wants it or not, why? The bidder won the tv for $1 and according to ebay lives in Georgia, I may have to send another note to Him, this time with My phone number.

I lost track of how much money you have spent on the TV up to this point

I spent just $307.00, some on the tv, some on the stand, shipping an incorrect tv part back to the seller, screws for the stand, some adapter cables(video and component), gasoline for the car, a burger and such for the trip, since I needed the energy, plus I'd gotten a payday loan to help pay for the tv and such, which was the reason why I was reluctant to go beyond the initial amount, the loan has been paid off of course.

And yes I'm getting another loan on the 1st.

Vic, We know you like fixing things. but spending that amout of cash is a never ending tale of woe.
My Samsung 52" died 3 months ago. It was 3 years old. The Tv guy said it would cost more to fix it then getting a new TV.
So I bought a 55" LG from BEST BUY for $497.00.

I think by the time you buy all the parts second hand that( maybe) wont work You could have saved the money to buy new.
And I know first hand how hard it is to unsoldier componets on a board and then soldier in a replacement with out harming the next door componet.
