I have Win8.1 x64.
Win Update notified me about a new driver:

»nVidia - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3 - NVIDIA GeForce GT 730

Downloadgröße: 283,2 MB

Sie müssen ggf. den Computer neu starten, damit die Änderungen wirksam werden.

Updatetyp: Optional

nVidia Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3 software update released in August, 2015

The NV GT730 is just for SETI crunching (2nd GPU). No screen or VGA dummy plug connected.
If I download the driver.exe from NVidia, it don't install the driver, because it say 'no NVidia device installed'...

Over the device manager Win installed automatically the 347.52 driver.

So I must use the Win Update drivers...

But, which version is the above mentioned driver?
And, normally I must uninstall the NV driver first, before I install a new driver... - this above mentioned driver I can install over the current one?

BTW. The above mentioned driver (if we know which driver version it is) work well with the apps of Lunatics Installer v0.43b?

Thanks.

If everything is presently working OK, Right click, hide update.
I get that one on my system every few months. Installing it leads to nothing but headaches.

I have this Motherboard/CPU combi since January '15. It's a desktop. ASRock Q1900DC-ITX board with onboard Intel Celeron J1900 CPU incl. iGPU (here screen connected).
I added the NV GT730 in May '15.

...at that time I downloaded the NVidia driver.exe from NVidia, but it don't install, because it say 'no NVidia device installed'.
In device manager I updated the driver of the new installed device, and after a few seconds the 347.52 driver was installed and the NV GT730 was shown.
Long story here.

So, if I'll uninstall the 347.52 driver for to upgrade with a newer driver it wouldn't work, because the driver.exe will say then again 'no NVidia device installed'.

I guess the NV driver.exe don't find a NV device, because it's no screen or VGA dummy plug connected to the GT730.

So in my case, it looks like I have just the option to upgrade the driver with the Windows Update.

have you considered plugging something into it?

Or you could force the card to output within display settings in windows

If it is working, don't.
If you can't use the Nvidia website to download & install the driver, don't.

Just Right click & hide the update.

NEVER EVER use the Windows driver update to update your Nvidia driver. The driver supplied by MS is a seriously crippled one whn it comes to using the processing power of an Nvidia GPU.
The ONLY place to get a driver update from is the Nvidia site, and always do a "clean" installation ("advanced" or "custom" installation, then find the little "Do clean installation" button)

What I've found for the last couple of generations of Nvidia cards is that they usually ship with a DVI-I > HD15 VGA Video adapter in the package. If you have any kind of electronic junk box lying around, or a nearby Radio Shack for the $10 1000 count pack, you can rifle through your resistors and plug some 68 ohm 1/4W ones into the adapters to make the computer see the adapter as another screen. Make Windows Device Manager do a scan for new hardware and Voila! drivers install and BOINC sees the card.

What pins to plug the resistors into are here:

you can force detection of a screen on a card with nothing plugged in within winblows display settings

Most Nvidia cards work perfectly well without having a screen or dummy plug in place. Just occasionally you get an awkward one that needs a screen plugged in during installation, but, thankfully, those are rare.
None of my crunchers have dummy plugs, all have two Nvidia cards and all crunch using both cards.

Sometimes, it takes a few minutes, before the card is detected.

As I recall it, years ago NV drivers would not install properly if they did not see a monitor attached to the card. I bought two way VGA splitters to attach to each rig to get around that.
I had comms with EVGA and nVidia at the time, and that was the only work around.

I do not believe that current drivers have that limitation, but it has been a very long time since I have had to reinstall new drivers.

I did have the misfortune just once of inadvertently allowing Update to install a driver. What a freaking mess that was. Learned that lesson the hard way.
