With BOINC itself having problems staying up and the temporary loss of SETI's d/l server #2, I've haven't received any tasks since it all began, which was even before the science DB copy. As of a few minutes ago there were 258k+ of MB tasks to be download. does anyone have any suggestions on how to attach to the active server, like maybe the IP addr, so that I can at least get some MB work. I really don't want to stuff my queues with work from other sites like Einstein & Milkyway if I don't have to. I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

Last Contact: 8 Aug 2015, 12:18:55 UTC, It's now 13:44:25 UTC. If Boinc doesn't ask for work, you won't get any. What are your cache settings? Try setting NNT at Seti Beta, you are Full up with the 50 AP tasks allowed there. Claggy |

And what sort of work are you requesting? If it's work for the three GPUs only, you might have been backed off by the numbers of VLARs being split. |

It's interesting that while I was looking at your post, I got 97 MB tasks. I do have another question - Many years ago the subject came up of generating VLAR tasks for GPUs, whatever happened to that or is it even being considered now? Back when I was running with GTX2xx, I remember that we used to use BOINC TASKS to switch them to the GPUs, but that they were still considered as CPU tasks. I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

Over on Beta they have a test app for the GPUs for the VLARs. It's an opencl application. It runs fairly well with newer GPUs. 1 VLAR in 20 minutes was my average on the NV 980 and Titan X. Normal MBs were slower on it than they were on CUDA. So not so good for them but still great for the VLARs Last time I checked they hadn't had enough ATI GPU users testing the app to make a decision on it. So it's still waiting for more ATI users to test it before they make a decision. That's what I remember. If someone else knows more, would love to hear it. Zalster |

I am interested to know what the different file types are, though. I would like to be crunching everything through my GPUs. I feel there is something I am missing; another config file or some other setting? I am running 12 WUs concurrently with no problems. Would always like to up the RAC though. Your idea of building vs. buying computers resonates with me, I will never purchase another computer. They are much to easy to build and you get better hardware. |
