I presume you have HyperThreading turned on. Your completed tasks for 100 credits take roughly twice as long as my 2x6-core Xeon with HT off so I don't think it's doing too badly. You need to wait a lot longer than two days to see what your RAC finally asymptotes to.

Hyperthreading is off they are real 24 cores

second machine is pretty much idle on cpu and gpu i dunno whats going on

Seems to me if you run 100% of the CPU cores all the cores run slower than if you just run 90% or so of the cores. Have you tried it with just 20 cores running tasks instead of 24?

i did give that a try yesterday but no difference

second machine has 1 core left over that does nothing but feed the video card still cpu usage is 25-30% instead of 100%

it's an odd problem

Have you tried upping the task priority? Try the entry in the cc_config.xml file;
<cc_config>
  <log_flags>
   <sched_op_debug>1</sched_op_debug>
  </log_flags>
 <options>
  <save_stats_days>365</save_stats_days>
  <no_priority_change>1</no_priority_change>
  <ncpus>20</ncpus>
 </options>
</cc_config>

Did you check your cpuspeed config file? Maybe it's stuck on the powersave governor.

Run these commands and post the output:
grep MHz /proc/cpuinfo

lsmod | grep cpu

Just a silly idea.
Try setting the boinc-client process to a higher priority.

they are high priority

according to boinc it takes 8 hours to complete 1 cpu task per core on a friggin xeon o.0

I guess, you turned all possible energy saving features off?

CPU only 2.4
units taking aprox 4 hrs 50 mins for MB not doing AP's

How many cores do you have running ? you have 169 units in progress !!!!???
Is there not a limit of 100 per CPU , not how many cores on the CPU ?

my Core 2 Quad 2.7ghz takes 3 hrs 40 mins per unit on the CPU

do you have Hyper Thread off ?

Sorry but don't know much about Linux so can't even compare times so if info help good otherwise your on your own

EDIT: your not running Linux in a VM are you ??

yeah cpu's are 2.4 but Xeons
i have 24 cores running hyperthreading off

looking at htop all cores are at 100% and each WU takes about 8 hours to complete according to seti client

second machine is a I7 920 and is only using about 20-30% resources for no reason all power savings is off all processes set to high priority
I found the reason why the gpu tasks froze on the I7 ... card got hot and did not spin up the fan and slowed down to a halt cranking the fan to 100% got that going at least

Edit:
To compare i just ordered a dell r910 with 4 newer 8 core xeons at 2.93ghz (looking to find some 10 core xeons on ebay to swap em with)
probably will be a week till i see the machine

Bro it's only bin only 2 days and yesterday they had trouble . I ran outa units so would wait a few days to let things settle .

even 24 cores I wouldn't expect the same as a good gpu

i understand that it will not come close to a gpu ...but 8 hours lol

i guess i have to load it up with 750 ti's (it could fit 7)
