In my results section it's saying ''error while computing'' with regard to the status of all my data sets. Would anyone know why it's doing this.

Please only sensible, knowledgeable answers. No rude, ignorant ass clowns which to my amazement have been all iv'e had so far.

It means that one of your computers has produced errors while running the task in question. A quick look shows the problem lies with the Intel GPU on your system.

Here is the content of one of the task's results summary files:

Looking closer at your results I see that (at least) one task has run to completion on the Intel GPU in the last day or so, and this was in the middle of a batch of failures.
This shows the problem is something other than the simple "don't have permission to write" that is indicted by the very short summary at the end of the file.

My own experience of the Intel GPU is very limited - I have only one Intel based cruncher and don't use for a variety of reasons not connected with the error you are using.

Thanks for replying guys. I've uncheked the iGPU check box in my preferences and am just running a WU on CPU. It's making for slow processing but i have to go through a process of elimination right now.

I noticed there's one completed work unit in my results as well so i know it can't be that simple..I'm not sure how the results section work. I thought it showed results of completed work units but i guess it doesn't? I don't think i've done that many WU in one day if it does?

This current work unit will take many days by looks of things so i'll just have to keep an eye on it.

If it fails more than a couple of times though i think i'm just gonna have to call it quits on seti@home. I don't want to have to do that though.

First, don't call it quits on SEI@Home, there are enough folks around who are running iGPUs, so someone must have an idea as to what is going wrong with yours - come on guys, fess-up.

In my (limited) experience of the iGPU it is "not much better" in terms of performance that an i7, and that is nowhere near as fast as a GTX960.

I had a couple of thoughts while trundling up to York and back on the train (not to mention the 5 hours stuck in a meeting between journeys - it was either think about your problem or keep everyone else awake with my snoring).
...Anti-virus software, this can cause some very strange problems, so many folks put the BOINC data directory into their "do not scan" list.
Second, drivers - have you just "suffered" a Windows driver update? I know with Nvidia cards the Windows driers are worse than useless, so many folks block Windows from automatically updating drivers, and only use those supplied by the chip-set manufacturer.

Finally - if you want to see how many tasks can be completed in a day take a look at my PCs....

Thanks for giving my problem so much thought. It's appreciated.

have you just "suffered" a Windows driver update?

I did do a dreaded windows update recently so it may be a possibility that it did something to any drivers on my laptop.

I looked into my antivirsus software to see if there's anything in there that could be causing the problem as well and nothing jumps out at me as being likely. Nothing is sandboxed, quarantined or prohibited as far as BOINC goes.

if you want to see how many tasks can be completed in a day take a look at my PCs

I just had a look..Do you make pc's as a hobby or something? :)

I don't have an Intel GPU, and have no specific expertise in that area, so please take my suggestions here as more in the spirit of general problem-solving research than anything else.

The v7.07 (opencl_intel_gpu_sah) application is relatively new, according to the Seti@home Applications page, having just been promoted to production on 14 Jul 2015. However, I don't see anything on the S@h Beta message boards that would show anyone having a problem like yours during development. Also, looking at your host's Application details page, it appears that, although your host was previously running the v7.03 (opencl_intel_gpu_sah) app, it never successfully completed even a aingle task with that app, either. (Number of tasks completed and Average turnaround time both still at 0, and Max tasks per day reduced to the minimum of 1, indicating nothing but errors had likely been returned.)

So then the more appropriate question would be, why did one task, 4298775186, actually complete successfully when all others have failed? What I would suggest is to go back and take a look at your Event Log (available in the BOINC data directory), find the time that particular task started (search for 11my15af.9102.13568.438086664206.12.187_1) and then try to correlate that with anything else that might have been happening on your system at that moment that would have allowed that task to start when all others have been consistently blocked. Despite your reference to corrupted data, the error message you're getting would seem to me to point to the app itself being blocked, rather than anything inherent in the data.

Perhaps for a brief moment, your AV was turned off while it updated its definition files (McAfee insists on doing that here on my daily driver). Or perhaps Windows was updating something else at that time. In any event, the BOINC Event Log likely won't provide you an actual answer, but perhaps you can use the times shown in there to correlate with some other event that occurred on your system.

EDIT: The Event Log is named stdoutdae.txt or, if that's a newly created one, stdoutdae.old.

I've done all i can now to let my antivirus know BOINC is a trusted process.

I'll see how it goes.

thanks.

Not only a trusted process, but have set the BOINC data folder to "trusted, do not scan"?

Iv'e just entered BOINC as an 'exclusion' to that as well.

I've probably got another couple of days on the WU i'm running now. When it talks to seti again i'll have at least ruled a couple of things out perhaps.

Ok..Update:

If i'm reading my results properly. Another work unit has been completed and validated..It doesn't have OpenCl next to it either. I've unchecked this in my preferences so i'm cautiously optimistic the problem has been resolved.

The task that just successfully completed, and the other one that you likely now have in progress, are tasks that were assigned to the CPU. Judging from the Application details page for your machine, which shows 7 consecutive valid tasks with the CPU app, it doesn't appear that CPU tasks were ever a problem to begin with. It was the tasks assigned to your Intel GPU that all failed, with the one exception.

Changing your preferences to not accept tasks for the iGPU certainly does avoid whatever the problem was, but wouldn't give any indication as to whether or not it was actually resolved by the AV changes.

Maybe reinstalling the intel graphics driver might help?

I'm not sure i'd want to risk instability problems that it could potentially cause..I rely heavily on my laptop for my science degree and any problems that tinkering with drivers may cause would be disastrous right now...

..I'll consider that though when my degree ends at the end of next year and if things revert..So far, a completed WU has given me hope things are ok now.
