Looking at the Lunatics for Linux optimized app pages. For AP it lists sse2 sse3 avx as separate downloads. For MB it lists sse2 sse3 ssse3, separate downloads. Both systems running Ubuntu 14.04 and xfce System A: My 32bit OS with Intel cpu lists sse2 ssse3 sse4_1. So, for AP which Lunatics to choose? Neither ssse3 nor sse4_1 listed. For MB ssse3 looks good. System B: My 64bit OS with Intel cpu lists sse2 ssse3 sse4_1 sse4_2. For AP downloads I'm pretty confused sse3 != ssse3? For MB the sse4_2 looks good. My attempts to answer this myself did not lead me to anything I understood how to apply to my situation. Sign me confused. |

For AP there was no advantage with other instruction sets only AVX is faster. For MB SSE4.1 and SSE4.2 should be faster than SSSE3. Of course SSSE3 is slightly faster than SSE3. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Great info. Thanks.. So where the optimized AP lists sse3 and I have ssse3 I can use sse3. Right? |

The MB optimized apps are indeed much much faster than stock. I did have to 'reset' seti via boinc-mgr to get all working again (something left over was inhibiting new tasks) but the new apps will make up for the lost time in under 24 hours. |
