I thought one of the ways a species was defined was that it cannot breed successfully outside of itself. Does this mean that dogs, wolves and coyotes are all, basically, one species? Well it means that all 3 are closely related enough to interbreed and these Coywolf's are Nocturnal.. And are smart enough to look both ways before crossing a street... In Russia they have interbreeded dogs and jackals. They work in airports to detect drugs and explosives. And they are very good at that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1xT3bRup2U |

I have been very busy as I am watching over the better part of 700 people for as much as 16 hours a day. They didn’t tell me when I took the job that I would be one of two moderators doing much of the work. In any case the server crashed so I came over here and discovered the Raccoon thread hadn’t been bumped in 4 days. I guess I haven’t told anybody here that I live near the flight path to Sky Harbor. These are two picture, one from the night of the blood moon and the other from the following night while I still had the camera set up. Enjoy. |

I thought one of the ways a species was defined was that it cannot breed successfully outside of itself. Does this mean that dogs, wolves and coyotes are all, basically, one species? I heard on an NPR story that dogs have an enzyme in their digestive systems that can deal with carbohydrates where as wolves can't deal with them. |

I am aware of many cases of domestic dogs and wolves inter-breeding. Spend some time on a western Canadian farm, and you would be too. |

If that is one of Sue's cats, then the answer is "Yes, of course you may let him in!" |

Took this a few days ago on a damp misty morning. Hundreds of perfect spheres of all sizes. The world reflected in drops of water. Isn't nature wonderful :-) |
