Both of my main TV's(a Sony and a JVC) are still of the CRT variety, and have that old standard warning on the back with a lightning bolt, "Do not open". :~) How long do those sets' components retain a charge after being unplugged? The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

You're a braver man than I, Vic. I would NEVER think about opening up a TV. Good luck with the repairs; I'm glad you were able to get it to replace your old one. :-) Yeah, that warning is not there on the LCD TV set. This TV only uses 160w of power, some at this same size use 125w, mine was made in 2011, the one I'm referring to that uses 125w was made in 2012. Skunks do tend to like fruit. Mine like plums that fall from our tree and they really like grapes. |

Ok ShopJimmy got back to Me, they said this could be the problem with the TV, the power board might need repairs, since there are none to be had, they can repair the board with new components for $94.95, this includes a 180day warranty, a 1yr warranty costs $9.50, 2yrs costs $18.99, as mentioned Here. I'll do this asap of course, which means January or February. Since the TV works enough to limp along for a bit, yes once done I can just put in the newly repaired board, just like I did on this 20" LG W2053TX monitor here. I did send a pic from ebay to ShopJimmys today(see below), asking if that should do the trick, if it doesn't basically, what then? The stand has been shipped today by USPS(tracking), yay! Though USPS has not yet come into possession of the package yet. In other news My Sister in law thinks I'm having arterial problems of some sort, swollen feet(more on the left than the right) and lack of hair on My legs below the knee, that's what I thought, but then She's a retired RN w/a degree, now if only a Doctor will listen to Me... Hearts fine He said... sigh.. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

My mother required extensive vascular surgery a few years ago in order to avoid an amputation. She probably needs another surgery at this point. One of her ankles resembles a tree trunk... but she has decided not to pursue any further medical intervention at this time due to other medical issues. Anyway Vic, this is actually a pretty serious thing. I know it is hard for you to get to the doctor, but please, for your health's sake, be as persistent as you can be. |

I haven't been feeling light headed when I get up from the chair here in quite some time, yeah I mentioned that too, hopefully the choice of Doctors will open up soon since the Medi-Cal provider rate cuts were restored. Vic, glad you managed the trip OK and have found where Grandad is. I hope you have said "Hello" to him. Good luck with getting the TV working properly. As for your legs - look after them, and make sure the doc knows that they shrink when you put shoes & socks on - just a thought based on that, get some "flight stockings", they might help if worn a few hours a day. (I wouldn't advise them as a "fashion accessory", but I know that my legs feel far better after a flight if I wear them than if I don't. Vic, glad you managed the trip OK and have found where Grandad is. I hope you have said "Hello" to him. There wasn't any time to do so, as it was it took Me 3 hours to get to Inglewood and 3 hours to get back, the i15 in the Cajon pass is undergoing widening and there was an accident and two fires, it's known as the crawl, since at times I was moving at 10mph or less, plus I didn't know where in Inglewood He was buried at, since I was 9yrs old when He passed away and 8yrs old when Grandma passed. Thanks Rob, but ShopJimmy also does repairs, the power supply board could have a problem that is causing this or it could be the led backlight strips, I'm hoping it's the power supply, that's easy to fix, I just have to buy some mylar bags(their idea, not mine), pay for shipping and pay for the repairs in advance, the led strips are just harder to get out I was told, My contact there did say He had an idea, I'm not sure if this was it of course. Otherwise I'd have to have a strip that is used in a Samsung lcd tv that is at 160w, like Mine is. Everything just plugs in on the tv, it's simple really, if the led strips were in(from a smashed tv) they'd be $54.95 before any shipping for a pair and finding them anywhere beyond ShopJimmy or ebay is a huge waste of time and I've looked, oh sure there are strips available right now, but they are for a different lcd panel currently. So far I haven't seen any on Amazon in a 2XL size, I have 1XL socks on now and getting them on at first is a pain in the ass. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Thanks for the tip Rob, my left calf and ankle swell since I ruptured the Gastrocnemius muscle last October. I'll try the flight socks. Vic, the first time I drove into LA (24 yrs old) I hit the I-5 "crawl" at 7 am on a Monday........I pulled off the first exit, found an Azar's, had breakfast and told my buddy "you're driving until we going home and are west of El Cajon Pass". I hate traffic...... "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

Thanks for the tip Rob, my left calf and ankle swell since I ruptured the Gastrocnemius muscle last October. I'll try the flight socks. Well it's next to impossible to get around the slow speed on parts of the Cajon Pass, I do know of three other ways around to avoid the crawl, but with an LCD TV in the back, I didn't want to go a different route, since all have only partial fwy lanes and are after a certain point they're just 2 lane hwys, the long way around, one is thru the mountains, one is up the i5(fwy) to ca14(fwy) to ca138(2 lanes only) and the other is thru the low desert(yuck).. The widening is from 4 lanes each way to I think 7 lanes each way, after this time I'm pretty sure there won't be anymore expansion, since the pass is shared with the UP and BNSF railroads and I'm fairly sure they won't allow any encroachment on their turf. I hate traffic...... Out here We have both, one's a parking lot on weekends and so is the other... ;) Us locals know the way around this to get to and from Barstow CA, We take the i40W instead of the i15S, by going south on Ghost Town Rd to the i40 fwy, the i40 is rarely jammed, except near the i15S/i40W interchange, then stay in the right lane on the i15 to take the nearest exit, you're then in Barstow CA.
