The Weather Channel on TWC TV, 8 autos and a part of a semi trucks load(an auto carrier) are on fire on the i15 fwy in Cajon Pass CA, fire fighters are on the scene, helicopters have dropped water to almost no effect, since the auto fires are fed by gasoline(petrol), on the ground firefighters are having to try and reach the area with hose lines from a pumper fire truck.

This fire was started as a result of a 50 acre brush fire, no word on containment yet, fire was spotted on both sides and in between the sections of the i15 fwy by the cameras on a TV news copter.

Just south of Oak Hills Rd in the southbound lanes of the freeway.

The DC10 just dropped 12,000 gallons of Phos-Chek in the Cajon Pass fire, they are using a Lear Jet type aircraft as a spotter aircraft for the DC10 Jet bomber, the Lear Jet flies ahead of the DC10..

Ok the fires smoke is even visible from here, if you are in the Los Angeles area, you might try KTLA 5 for more coverage.

Vic, that sounds very scary!!!

Wishing you well, friend.

3500 acres, 20 vehicles destroyed, of those vehicles, one was an expensive Jag on a Car Carrier, 5-15 homes burned, there are 1500 horses in the area, people like horses, who knew?

Crazy day...

Thanks Angela, I'm as usual about 75-100 miles from this fire, so no worries.

Vic, how far are you from the fire,
and is there any danger to you?
I hope you are ok and only have to
put up with the smell.

I'm about 75-100 miles from the fire. I'm fine, I can't tell, the cooler and the humidity takes care of that, since the coolers pads act like a primitive filter.

No, no danger to Me or to Grace.

Homes also.

Stay safe, Vic.

Thanks Julie and Lynn, Grace and I will stay safe.

I'm so glad I live far away from places like the Cajon Pass where the fire is at, it's nice and almost FLAT here, kind of like Belgium, just hot and dry in the summer, and cold and dry in the winter.

That mountain is Elephant mountain, which is about 3.0-3.5 miles from Me, the freeway there is the i15, 9 channels of low def digital tv come from that mountain, paid for by the County of San Bernardino. Thanks Gordon!

As of 32 mins ago, the Cajon Pass fire is at 5% containment, I'm about 100 miles away, so I'm not affected. http://www.sbsun.com/general-news/20150717/cars-homes-destroyed-as-3500-acre-north-fire-burns-cajon-pass-15-freeway

It's been many moons since I was out that way, but if the truck weigh station at the bottom of the hill on the southbound side is still there, I wouldn't feel too broken up if it burned down.

($350 for 'defective equipment'... of course the trailer brakes were smoking at the bottom of a 5 mile/6% grade... you made me stop!) :)

Of course it was the trailer brakes.
Who owned the trailer?
