After a lot of work and mowing most of the yard today a Southern Haze/Lager combo is going down very well this afternoon. :-D

Cheers.

G'morning everyone, I hope that a good weekend is being/or was enjoyed by all. :-)

Don't worry Grant, I've been having a beer for you when I can, but the doctor is likely very right, though it's good to hear you got that PC problem sorted.

Now is it me or has someone been changing their name a lot lately?

Anyhow I better get a few more things done around here as Beer O'clock is only 3hrs away. :-O

Cheers.

Well, unfortunately for now, I cannot have beer... I'm on Week 6, (as of today), on the Atkins Diet Plan.

I've lost 13+ lbs and have gone from Size 54 to Size 48 - (American Levi's jeans), and am already on the last notch of my Size 48 belt. :-)

Well TL. I bet your stomach thinks you have cut it's throat.

Nope, because Atkins is a High Protein and High Fat Plan... LOOOOOW Carbs.

No breads, no potatoes, no rice, no cereals, no sugars... (Stevia is OK.)

6 Oz. of protein per meal, with 2 TBSP of Fats - (Oils or butter)... 12 to 15 Net Carbs from veggies per day. Total of 20 Net Carbs per day from all foods for Phase 1; which I'm in right now... Might be going to Phase 2 in a couple weeks; if I do, I can increase my Net Carbs to 25... :-)

I lost a total of 75 pounds in 1 year, I have been holding steady at 210 pounds for over a month so I must have hit my level for now. But nonetheless I still miss my beer. :(
Cheers everybody

Congrats TL.

I've done Adkins and it's an easier way to lose than most. Be careful to drink at least 2 liters of water a day, it flushes the kidneys and helps digestion of the protein. And watch out for Gout, the purines in meat and certain veggies can build up the urea levels quickly in your system(another reason for the water).

Good ole' H20, the universal solvent..........and it tastes good too!

Admittedly though, beer tastes better.

The Atkins diet in the UK has been discredited, and can cause heart attacks, DO NOT TRY it unless under strict medical supervision.

+1, basically don't try ANY severe regime without medical approval. Extremes can lead to unwanted consequences later in life.

Do be careful whatever you do.

Please forgive my sarcasm but life can lead to unwanted consequences as well.
It is unhealthy to eat to much, to eat not enough, not to ecercise or to do to much sports.
What in life is not dangerous if you think carefully about it.

/Zen mode off.

Cheers :)

I drink 120 Oz. of water a day... Atkins recommends 64. I have to have the water I drink, because I'm on 12 meds a month. (Asthma, Sinusitis, and a mood disorder.)

This plan is definitely for me; my Primary Care Physician took blood from me on my last physical, (back in March), for a special genetic marker test. It shows that I MUST have more proteins and fats in my system, less/low carbs. So, essentially, I'm under doctor's orders to be on the Atkins Plan. :-)

As for gout, I'm already prone to it, I've had gout attacks in the past - most likely will have them in the future, too. I take Colcrys, and Indomethacin for my gout flareups. Stress has been a factor for my gout in the past; some foods, too.

@ Chris,

It's unfortunate that you say it's been discredited in the UK. This diet actually makes a WHOLE LOT of sense. For me it will be my new lifestyle. :-)

More and more doctors who are studying the plan are now supporting it. Perhaps someday, the UK will reopen the case.

At any rate, it works for me, I'm sticking to it. :-)

......or Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Cranberries, Dinner Rolls, Yams, Green Bean Casserole, Wine, BEER and most importantly, no Pumpkin Pie........the Holiday Season has destroyed the diet resolve in millions of Americans.

Happy Turkey Day! To all who celebrate the day, and too, all give thanks today and everyday for the blessings in each of our lives.

Mom's NOT making mashed potatoes this time; sweet potatoes, (NOT yams), ARE on the menu, I can have A LITTLE gravy, but NO rolls, I NEVER drink wine - but beer is out, we don't like green been casserole, I hate cranberry sauce. Because it is Thanksgiving, I AM treating myself to A LITTLE stuffing, and some pumpkin pie. :-)

Turkey is on. Pies are ready. More fixings and side to be done later. It takes too much work to do it all. No wonder all thoughs calories are on the plate.
