...I JUST BROKE INTO THE TOP 20 SETI@HOME CRUNCHERS IN THE UK. (well, for some reason it matters to me) Helped by the kind loan of 2 more Mac Pros, They may be older but they're cores for the cause. Cores for the cause. You heard it here first folks! (if it's original, which I doubt, greatly) Ivan, I'm coming your way :) ~W |

...I JUST BROKE INTO THE TOP 20 SETI@HOME CRUNCHERS IN THE UK. Yeah, you gots a couple of ciphers that you'll quickly dispatch, and then Richard next month. Gets a bit harder after that... Anyway, congrats. I guess there has to be something that Macs are good for! |

Also; SHOTS FIRED! :) 37 machines !!!!! wow you also got a power station plugged into the house as it sounds like you need one 35, one got put back to being a user's machine and the other is a split personality. I suppose a few pictures would be in order. When I get a few minutes I might post some in that thread. (Then you'll see why power/cooling isn't much of a concern :) ) ~W |

In terms of Credit I am 99th. In terms of RAC I'm 34th. I only run 6 machines, and 2 of those are helping others. Just had a look at where I am in RAC. According to BOINCStats I'm second in the UK (and 34th worldwide, how meta!) OK, I can live with that! ~W |

At least LHC is up and running again, so my friends at IC high energy physics have moved their farm back to CMS simulation and analysis now. A few months ago their RAC was over a million! |

That's not even fair. I could build machines like that but I want to stay married and have a home to live in :) Here are some pictures, for them what care, of my current crop. ~W |

...and I'm hot on your tail with only 3 machines running I have to say, my long term goal is to build more machines with multi-GPUs as opposed to using Macs I find lying about. Altogether a better idea. That way everything wins. I say "I don't do it for the credit, I do it for the science." but that's not strictly true for any of us, is it? :) ~W |

...and I'm hot on your tail with only 3 machines running I'd say it's more along the lines of doing the most science/credits possible with the resources available. SOME people *ahem* just happen to have more resources ;-) |

...and I'm hot on your tail with only 3 machines running Yep, where's that dang Toaster? In BSG a Toaster is a Cylon, something to shoot at or be shot by.. Once upon a time, 35 years back in real life, I was more than just a fair shot, really I was, if it moved or not, I could hit it, no trick shots, just a fair amount of skill from practice, but that is all in the past now. Not Cyclon, Cylons.. These are 'Toasters'... The one on the right is also known as a 'Skin Job'... Cylons don't die, if their body is destroyed their mind is transmitted to a Resurrection Ship/Hub, they keep getting new bodies. Bit of an unfair advantage really.
