Message 1777149 - Posted: 8 Apr 2016, 13:17:45 UTC - in response to Message 1777121.

Haven't you been reading about the FBI breaking encryption? Can't verify without unbreakable encryption.

No, I haven't really been following that. There should be some sort of solution for internet voting. If everybody was honest, it would work. ;~)

If everybody was honest we wouldn't need a massive government, or elections or the need to vote.

So, "honesty" and "different ideas" are mutually exclusive? I.E., the set of all completely honest people contains only those with the same ideas?

I think there's a lot of truth to that. You can be an honest person and still be an ambitious leader.

Message 1777360 - Posted: 9 Apr 2016, 0:18:21 UTC - in response to Message 1776993.

Unfortunately caucuses bar a fairly large segment from being able to vote - for instance those that have to care for the infirm and anybody that has shift work when the caucus is scheduled.

Bobby, that still does not address why those who are unable or unwilling to get involved in their party should have a say in what the party does and does not in the least address why the tax payer should pay for a partisan election.
Republicans should be selected by their party as should Democrats and 3rd party candidates. A primary election is not the same thing as a general election.
As an aside the Democrat party in my state, Washington has provisions for those who can't make it to a caucus to cast their vote in an absentee manner.

True, we could go in the direction that the UK and many other nations have gone, where individuals pay for party membership, and the parties organize their own elections for candidates, in which only paid up members can participate. From what I recall, that way does tend to lead to outcomes described by Michels, to a greater degree than is seen in US style primaries.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

I didn't read that outcome in the statements made. Me thinks you are putting words and ideas in other people's statements that were not there nor were implied.

Umm guys just look to the way we do it .

only paid up members can vote for the leader of the party .

There is no election by people to elect a leader .

you only need a general vote for the party and let the party decide who is going to lead .

Oh right your president has to much power doesn't he .

Ours don't he will get kick out if the polls are consistently low as what happened to Tony Abbot he became Toxic to the party

I say scrap your whole system a system born out of revolution not a system that evolved over the last 800 years but then , that's what you get for following the French

Harald Trump: "I hope that Donald not win the election"
https://translate.google.se/translate?hl=sv&sl=sv&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dn.se%2Fnyheter%2Fvarlden%2Fharald-trump-hoppas-att-donald-inte-vinner-valet%2F
Harald Trump lives in the German village Kallstadt. He hopes, despite his relationship with Donald Trump, that the Republican don't take the seat in the White House.
The observation that there is a certain external resemblance between him and the billionaire makes him laugh a little, yet no relationship he is proud of.
- No, he says, so much nonsense, that he wants to arm children in schools and so on.

that he wants to arm children in schools and so on.

And here we go again with the hearsay BS! Again I'm not a fan of Trump but I am a fan of the TRUTH! Innuendo and BS are why there is so much anger in this campaign on BOTH sides.

What Trump said was to the effect of 'Arm, and train, teachers to protect the students', a policy that has worked for 50 years in Israel. No school massacres there.

What do you mean by hearsay BS?
Do you mean that you cannot trust ANY media coverage?
Then we are lost:(

And WTF is TRUTH!!!!

And Armed teachers could have stopped Oregon massacre!
Thats nonsense.
Trump said the same thing about the Paris terror attack in the rock venue.
First of all weapons are not allowed in such venues, both in US and Europe!

What do you mean by hearsay BS?

Hearsay BS is when someone makes a statement alleging someone else said something they did not say, I think that's pretty self explanatory. AND I did not post a single word about media coverage, I posted that Trump NEVER said 'arm children'. If you have a quote directly from Trump stating such a thing, posting it would the responsible thing to do. Otherwise repeating such drivel as fact is BS, and very irresponsible. The TRUTH my friend is what was ACTUALLY said.

And I see you didn't refute my point that Israeli teachers, who are required to be trained and armed, is why in a country of turmoil there are no school massacres. That, Jan, is also fact and TRUTH. By the way, in the US a person who has obtained a conceal carry permit(after an FBI background check) can be armed anywhere that is not posted at the door as a no carry zone or controlled by metal detectors.

Your argument is with Harald, not janne. Harald did actually say the words noted by janne, and janne quoted Harald, which you'd have seen if you followed the link provided by janne.

No high school shootings in Israel? Really? Did you look at what the Israeli's said about a similar claim by the NRA CEO (at the time) Wayne LaPierre?

Does Israel have anything equivalent to the Second Amendment? Is firearm ownership in Israel as widespread as it is in the US? If the answers to these is "no" and "no" why would you believe comparisons between the US and Israel are relevant to a discussion about security of high schools?

[ETA]Oh, and what Drumpf (Donald) did say is "I will get rid of gun-free zones on schools" (source).[/ETA]
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

Bobby, I don't expect you to understand this but changing someones statement then using the 'Quote' button, is also BS. But then again you are a master of mis-tatement and such things are to be expected.

What is the problem?
Donald Trumps relatives dont like his politician campaign?
I used the quote button because it was Harald Trump who said that he doesn't like what Donald are standing for as you can see if you care to read the interview with him!
- No, he says, so much nonsense, that he wants to arm children in schools and so on.
So on means that Donald have some other ideas that his relative don't like!

That wasn't meant for you Jan, which is why I posted 'Bobby'. The exception I took on your post is people attributing statements to a person who did not make that statement. Again if you have an actual instance of Trump saying "Arm Children in Schools" then PLEASE post it. Otherwise it is PURE, made up, BS!
