When i was a child the nuns would always say that Right was good, and Left was bad.
They said that an Angel would sit on your right shoulder and whisper good advice into your right ear.
They said that the Devil would sit on your Left shoulder and whisper into your left ear on how to be bad.
It seems that i wasn't the only one told that story, and some people never stopped believing it.

It went much farther. If you were left handed, they would have to beat the devil out of you ....

Trump's a to#ser hes now "blackmailing" the uk if he's banned from entering the country by withholding 700 mil investment, hes a racist a-hole and a f-ing joke . Hope when the politicians debate it in the commons they dont let that make a difference to the outcome ( its obvious they wont do anything anyway )

Which Candidate, in your opinion, would be competent?

I have no idea.
Nobody will know until the candidate are elected and start his/her term.

However Trump is not competent.
Another example of his geopolitical skills.
"China should solve that problem and we should put pressure on China to solve the problem," Trump said in a wide-ranging interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer on "The Situation Room" Wednesday at Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan. "If they don't solve that problem, we should be very tough on them on trade -- meaning, start charging them tax or start cutting them off. You'd have China collapse in about two minutes."

Trump does it again:)
Man shot inside Paris police station. Just announced that terror threat is at highest level. Germany is a total mess-big crime. GET SMART!

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/685089631973601280

Mel Brooks talks 50 years since Get Smart (and why he loves Trump)
Brooks tells EW that the funniest thing to happen recently was Fox News turning on Trump: 'It’s like Bavaria fighting with Austria — they’re both Germans!'

Until a Non-Dangerous Candidate understands, and most importantly. Addresses the legitimate fears of the American People:
Trump wins.

"Strong" leaders seems populary nowadays. Both in the US and Russia.
However Putin has a political background whereas Trump has none.
Trump's problem is that he has no movement behind him, no advisors that he can trust, and he does not understand the issues. Trump has learned that forceful statements are appreciated by voters. Therefore, he doesn't differentiate intelligent forceful statements from insane statements. As long as his statements are forceful, they work.

I ask again: where's the line between legitimate fears and paranoid delusions?

where's the line

That line is at the front stoop of every citizen.
No person here is going to risk their safety or
the safety of their loved ones. If I am not sure
of the danger I treat every thing I am not sure of
as dangerous. Some times people are not willing to
to take changes with any uncertainty.

edit:
Unfortunately some don't become well informed....

Ah, Risk Assessment.
So the 1 in a 100 million chance of becoming a terrorist statistic will induce you to give up your civil liberties and be strip searched at every door you cross. But the much lower odds of winning the powerball lottery will induce you to spend like crazy because the jackpot is $800 million.

Yes, humans are very good at risk assessment and calculating odds of occurrence.

Sigh.

http://america.aljazeera.com/opinions/2016/1/trumps-bigotry-tests-the-limits-of-free-speech.html
Trump’s recent call to ban Muslims from entering the United States enraged Democrats and Republicans, and even elicited criticism from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
...
In other countries ... and Trump’s hate speech would certainly not fly. France is a good example. When National Front politician Anne-Sophie Leclère compared Justice Minister Christiane Taubira, a black woman, to a chimpanzee, she received a nine-month prison term and a 50,000 euro fine.
...
Trump is not the only public figure in the U.S. to offend minorities openly. In December, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia said that African-Americans would do better in “less advanced schools.” But Trump’s hate speech has had particularly unsettling implications. His early campaign comments about Mexican immigrants — whom he characterized as rapists and drug dealers — inspired violent hate crimes, and his call to ban Muslims has likely done the same.
...
Stomaching hateful views is unpleasant, but they cannot be legislated away. The answer is to respond intelligently and sharply to bigoted speech that pollutes society with fear. ... It’s to fact-check Trump’s lies about Muslims, as many media outlets have done, and to remind Americans that he is not fit to be president of the United States.

And Americans should do so responsibly. We should reject the fact that, as Rula Jebreal writes, our TV media responds to Trump’s outlandish proposals with a seemingly serious debate on “whether Islam is an inherently violent religion,” as MSNBC’s Morning Joe did. Rather than elevating Trump’s bellicose rhetoric to a legitimate policy option, we should argue with the 41 percent of Republicans who support him, working to reveal his statements for what they are — hateful, inaccurate and dangerous.

All present attempts to destroy his candidacy. Is done from a foundation of Total Stupidity and Ignorance.

Would calling his hands "dangerous" be an attempt to destroy his (Trump's) candidacy?
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

...is like asking where the line is between insanity and genius.

Really?
http://www.livescience.com/20713-genius-madness-connected.html
Anything else to contribute?

Here's a rational fear:
Candidate hands out 20000 tickets to an event in a location he knows only holds 1400.
Those able to get in raising a voice of dissent or, reportedly, even wearing something contrary leads to one's immediate ejection from the event, no questions asked.
Rather than even allow the slightest bit of questioning (which, if allowed and then answered reasonably might even bring more into his fold), instead he quashes dissent.

Then we have this:

(Note, in the following image, there are some swear words. I do not know where the "kid-friendly" policy currently stands at S@H, particularly in the Politics forum. However, I submit that this can easily by found by kids on the site I have linked to and multiple other sites. Also, they have been said by public figures, not me. I think it is worthwhile seeing how this is an example of where political discourse stands these days.)

Trump quashes dissent.
He is clearly a "divider". I have provided some concrete examples.
When he does respond to dissent, it is via junior high level insults, insults that aren't even very good.
The sad thing is, I have seen a few interviews where Trump talks some sense.
Where we are now, though? This is spiraling out of control. I too wonder, as Clyde has: when will we see blood spilled at a Trump event?
(And when we do, will Alex Jones and Ted Cruz claim atrocities were perpetrated by a liberal or Illuminati agent provocateur?)
Capitalize on this good fortune, one word can bring you round ... changes.

A lot of people are getting all worked up about the possibility of Trump being President, but as Bob said, he wouldn't have supreme power in office. He might even turn into a teddy bear once elected.
The mind is a weird and mysterious place
