I can relate to that, bushfires give me the willies, especially when the smoke turns the sky orange.

When the sky has changed from orange to dull red, the pyrocumulonimbus cloud is obscured and the wet washcloth over the face is letting too much smoke in and there is only one twisty single lane road out that you really have to worry.

Yesterday I still saw smoke from one of the fires nearby, of course nearby is about 65-70 miles, the desert might get hot, but actual fires are rare out here I've found in My 27 years in the high desert, since I've seen only 1 or 2 and then it was after they were quickly extinguished.

Scary! Our worst fie days come with 40+C temps and hot northerly winds at 50miles per hour with ember attacks starting new fires miles ahead of the main fire fronts. And being nearly on the south coast fires are always heading in our direction. We've had big fires go past esst and west of us and one might get us in the future.

That sounds bad. I am not sure I would want to live somewhere where that happened regularly. We've had very hot weather and no rain for over a month now. A fire fighter was killed near where my Aunt and Uncle live because so many fires have broken out all over BC.

Help is on the way Canada, more Ausssie fire fighters are on their way. :-)

I'm glad I live in the city. Theres no way I would live in the bush or the country. But even so the local government inspects city properties and makes cut all grass down to 100mmm and remove fuel in case of ember attacks from nearbuy fires. And if you dont do it they come and do it and make you pay $400 or $500.

Here the park says to cut the grass or spray it, Me I sprayed it and then the park cut and removed any easy to remove dead weeds, all it cost Me was a purchase at the Home Depot of some Roundup, which some crazies like to say is the same as agent orange, which is not proven, since Roundup has no dioxin in it...

Just went in to Lamont to the hospital, check-up, all good.
Then.
LSM and I found a New Second Hand Shop and went crazy!
She got a smack of things that were fun for her to buy, and I
found three old science fiction books for .80 cents each. I got
Clarke's "Songs of Distant Earth."
F. Pohl's "Heechee Rondezvous."
Hold on to your hats, "Man-Kzin Wars" by Niven, Anderson,
and Dean Ing! Not to mention an old Laura Smith CD.
Gee, and it is only 10:20 or so in the A.M.
