From the tasks I've been getting. About 10% are not 100% blanked and seem to have <5% blanking. SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

Another try at 2016 AP tasks. January and July. Let's hope for some good ones in this batch. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

See we added some November 2015 tasks too. If I remember correctly, the majority of the 2015 work turns out with minimal blanking, so hoping I can take advantage of my newly acquired 11 completed CPU APR status. To be honest, both BOINC and SETI are spread so thinly - staff-wise - these days that I haven't dared to open this extra can of worms with project admin. If the problem is somewhere in the antenna - receiver - recorder chain at Arecibo (as seems likely, to my eyes - but possibly past history by now), there doesn't look to be enough money or person-power to fly somebody to Puerto Rico to fix it. But if people are interested enough in the science of Astropulse to devote time and money to fixing it, there's some useful factual evidence in this thread to point them in the right direction. |

If the problem is somewhere in the antenna - receiver - recorder chain at Arecibo... If that is true wouldn't it also "poison" the MB tasks? Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |

Indeed, but I've seen a fair few immediate overflows when running MB from tapes around those dates. If the problem is somewhere in the antenna - receiver - recorder chain at Arecibo...If that is true wouldn't it also "poison" the MB tasks? First of the month - I might look for matching dates when I update my data distribution database this afternoon. |

Oh, great. We got more '09 data entering the splitting queue. And not a pinch of AP coming out. Meowsigh. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

I've stopped trying to snag APs. As the powers running the program either can't or won't fix the blanking issue, and are in process of finalizing the project and apparently winding down I don't see the point. They're a waste of time and energy as they are and generally add very little to my RAC. " : \ "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

My take on it is that this phase of the project may be winding down, but we shall be continuing on in new directions. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

A few are being split and I don't care. |

Sten why don't you just deselect AP in your preferences? |

Took me a while to get round to it, but eventually had a peek. This is the 'overflow rate' for MB tasks recorded at Arecibo since 01 December last year (anything which processed in under 90 seconds on my mid-range GPUs).Indeed, but I've seen a fair few immediate overflows when running MB from tapes around those dates. If the problem is somewhere in the antenna - receiver - recorder chain at Arecibo...If that is true wouldn't it also "poison" the MB tasks? We've seen about 65 tapes recorded from 01 December to 15 February, then a gap, then another 36 in July/August. As we suspected, the tapes recorded over the winter were of very poor quality, but went back to normal for the summer recordings. |

*blows dust off thread* So I missed some AP splitting last week. I don't know how much was actually useful from that run, I just know the SSP went from saying only ~500 were out in the field to being well over 10k. This time, I noticed the creation rate was almost 1/sec, so I started mashing the update button. Took 7 tries to finally pick up three from '09 tapes and they're not 100% blanked. Correct me if i'm wrong, but we never process Astropulse on the 2007 data right? So now that we are done with the reprocessing of 2009 data, only a few tapes from 2008 remain, we may either see work from 2007 or 2010. And there is plenty of work to reprocess from 2007. (+/-350 tapes acording to Richard Haselgrove count) |

of no real consequence but i ran 10 AP's yesterday and have credit for 6 of them already ... I guess they work ... (they were all 'ap_10dc08aa_...'s) Ed F |
