AMD Launches Catalyst Driver for Windows 8.1 Preview
By Kevin Parrish June 27, 2013
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Catalyst-Windows-8.1-Preview-WDDM-1.3-Wireless-display,23280.html
Even with 8.0 the oldest recommended driver is 12.8. AMD doesn't list OS 8.0 until Cat 12.10, http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/previous/detail?os=Windows%207%20-%2064&rev=12.10
But go ahead and give it a try. I'd recommend making a backup first though.

Made some adjustments to my preferences and picked up some APs. It seems my rig is back to normal. I'll try not to tweak it further. As far as my hardware goes, it is pretty much maxed out.... I hope the APs keep coming....

installed Catalyst v12,1...even tough my CAL stayed on v1.4.1734...
got some APs...don't think they were correct ones...

question: how to install CAL v.1.4.1720 or earlier to work?
how to overwrite drivers? :/

When you go backwards with AMD/ATI drivers you must use a driver uninstaller to remove All of the previous driver or else you get exactly what you are seeing. The best uninstaller I've found is DDU found here, http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
I'm still using version 12.something, I suppose the newer version works just as well.

Did you not uninstall the old driver before installing the version you want? It's best to use a utility to remove all components of the currently installed driver before installing another one.

it should work out fine. The reason you cannot see the result is because the replica database is currently disabled. This needs to be enabled and caught up to show a current list of results on your task page.

When your corresponding result has been returned by your wingmen credit will be granted and shown as normal

Nice AP run seems to be over now.

Don't know how many of them I got, maybe 400 or so, can't say easily until replica database is up and synchronized.

How do you get that many APs?

I'm lucky if I get 1 AP for every 4 or 5 runs done.

[edit] A few years ago I would get considerably more, but no more. [/edit]

I Should have said "to all of my 8 active hosts"

Also, I normally run 2 day cache (MB/AP), but when I see there is more AP's splitted, I switch to 7 day cache and AP only.

Made some more adjustments, disabled my screensaver. That seemed to help. My system seemed to be locking up, although, I didn't trash any more WUs. Set my prefs for SETI@home v7: no. Picked up a lot of APs. I am really surprised at my RAC at this point. I hope it continues to rise.

I am quite thankful for all of the help I have found in these message boards.

Happy crunching folks!

I caught them splitting some APs but I didn't get any and now they are gone. Hopefully we will see more in the near future.

Did you try to install one of these drivers in Windows compatibility mode ?

Is your Catalyst 12.8 driver the legacy version ?

Newer legacy drivers for testing

There is also a slightly newer driver released under Windows 7, but I used it with HD3450's under Windows 10.
