I am waiting for the temp here to drop one more degree so I can restart my last 2 idle rigs. The kitties want to claw up as many APs as possible before they are again a thing of history. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

I have noticed that the creation rate for APs is abnormally high (over 2/sec). Generally in the past, I've only seen it upwards of about 1.6/sec. At that rate, it is just blasting through the available tapes/channels. I'm just about at the 100-task limit on my machine, thanks to a spate of high-blanked tasks bringing the ETAs way down. But even with that, it means that I still likely won't have much more than a 10-day cache. Are new tapes going to be a relatively common occurrence for the near future? I know some of you keep up with the historical telescope activity/usage, specifically, when the ALFA receiver is being used, so I know that can shed some light on how much data may be available to us. The last 4 'tapes' are being processed now. At least, if I don't get any more tasks, I have 50 APs in cache. |

21 AP channels to split then we are out. The end of this grand run is near. |

Well then. After all these tapes, I found one that does not have 100% blanked B3_P1s. 23my15ab. A couple times per day, I look at my cache for B3_P1s and suspend everything and resume those, just to get them out of the way. At the start of this feeding frenzy, I was offline-testing a few of them, and then realized they were all 100% blanked, so I didn't bother testing them anymore. And then 23my15ab came along. Oh well, it's not a big deal, really. I'll just be processing that one now ahead of WUs I picked up five days ago since it was started and then suspended and got put into a 'waiting to run' state. That was a good run of tapes though. As I pondered a day or two ago though.. I wonder if this is going to be a somewhat consistent thing for the near future, or if this was just a bit of good luck to get two good feeding cycles back-to-back. It all depends on how much the ALFA receiver was being used. Linux laptop: record uptime: 1511d 20h 19m (ended due to the power brick giving-up) |

I've got 19 CPU (SSE2) tasks left along with 30 MB tasks. Haven't seen any new AP tasks since the well last dried up. Can't even get any MB tasks for the last 2 days because one of the d/l servers is down. I don't buy computers, I build them!! |
