Not exactly a crunching question but can I delete all these superfluous language folders in my BOINC program folder?

EG: "bg, ca, cs..."

Cool.

So I can blame you if it blows up :))

In case anyone else wants to reduce wasted folders, I have deleted (moved to temporary folder) the following folders:

"bg", "ca", "cs", "da", "de",
"el", "eo", "es", "et", "fi",
"fr", "gd", "gl", "he", "hr",
"it", "ja", "ko", "nl", "no",
"pl", "pt", "pt-br", "ru",
"sk", "sr", "sv", "th",
"tr", "zh-cn"

(Leaving the folders: "CVS", "misc", "projects", "slots" intact.)

I am using English. Have closed and restarted BOINC after the delete (move) and have seen no problems at all.

I wondered this as it is empty but sometimes some software does not like looking for a folder that is no longer there when it may require it in the future.

I suspect "English" is native to the app so maybe if others use a none english language the folder CVS is used? don't know.

CVS: that is a folder for CVS-Files
CVS is not a "language"

A source code control system. If you are not a programmer, you probably don't want to know any more than this.

Hi Pete

CVS is the Concurrent Versions System,
the dominant open-source network-transparent version control system.
CVS is useful for everyone from individual developers to large, distributed teams:

Its client-server access method lets developers access the latest code from
anywhere there's an Internet connection.
Its unreserved check-out model to version control avoids artificial conflicts
common with the exclusive check-out model.
Its client tools are available on most platforms

The language folders are not needed. If you want to use a language other than english you have to copy the language.ini from the folder into your boinc-dir. The only Folders needed are "projects" and "slots". If you want to have the latest language.ini go to boinc.dk
