Is there anyway to change the "scheduling priority" of a host and/or its tasks? It seems that the later the deadline date the lesser the scheduling priority gets for a task and its host. Surely there must be a way to change this?

Tasks are processed in the order in which they are downloaded. The only times this changes is if a workunit is in danger of missing its deadline, in which case BOINC will switch to Earliest Deadline First until it is out of danger.

There are things you can do to BOINC to force it into thinking it is going to miss a deadline such as raising your cache to high levels, or you can micro-manage BOINC by suspending all other work to force it to process workunits you want it to, but generally screwing with BOINC's deadline calculations isn't a very good idea.
