original launch price of a 295x2 was $1,499. $580 now so 19.78 GFLOPS/$ 290x is now $330 so 17.06 GFLOPS/$ |

it depends on how you look at it, a 295x2 can be considered as comparable in efficiency to a 750 Ti. So with a 295x2 at 11.5 TFLOPS and a 750 Ti at 1.3 TFLOPS, you almost need a nine pack of 750 Tis to match perfomance. A nine pack of 750 Tis costs just a little more than a 295x2, plus the nine cards would use just a little more power than a 295x2. And of course it's so easy to set up a cruncher with a nine pack of anything, I can do it in my sleep. |
