(Or, 750 TI SC...) PROBLEM: Win 10, (coming soon), will try to Auto Update NVIDIA drivers on my system - if I choose to upgrade. (...and, I'm considering doing so...) Prometheus, (my second, and lower end PC), is currently using an EVGA GTX-275 on GeForce Driver 266.58. I don't want the potential issue of Win 10 Auto Updating the Driver; as this is a Pre-Fermi card and currently MUST use 266.58. So, I'm in desperate need of a newer card. Unfortunately, being on disability, my income doesn't leave me much spending money; so, I can't afford a new card. If anyone has a used Keppler card that they don't need, nor want anymore, please shoot me a PM, and I'll get you my information to ship the card to. Any help, is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

If I had the $90, I'd get the GTX-750 SC with the rebate card. However; I don't quite have that amount. I would be able to pay a private party something, (to be discussed in PM), for their used card. Thanks for the info. Spitfire_mk_2. :-) TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

Timelord any particular reason you wish to upgrade to win 10 on that machine ? I would not be in any hurry usually Microsoft allways release a so called new op with heaps of bugs so might be better to wait at least 6 months so they can fix them with a service pack . Can you turn the auto update to notify you about them but let you choose when and if to download a update or has that been changed in win 10 . Sorry no spear GPU's i can donate , only spear i got is a 220 gtx. If you wait you'll have some time to save the $100 bucks or so , yes i know being on a pension is hard i'm on one two . |

In the old days of Windows with major point releases (4.x, 5.x, 6.x), that was relatively sound advice. However, Windows 10, despite the kernel being "updated" to 10.x, is really based off of 6.4, which is on the already tried-and-true Vista/7/8 kernel 6.x series. Also, with Windows 10, Service Packs are going away. There won't be a Windows 10 Service Pack 1. That's one of the major changes to the Windows update model. |

(Or, 750 TI SC...) When you upgrade your Win7 Pro, you'll get the Win 10 Pro version, which doesn't force automatic updates. |

Sorry but after so long of them saying this one's ok and then they have been forced to release a service pack i'm a bit sceptical of there claims . So much so i would not put money on it :) |

They're not saying Windows 10 isn't going to need service packs because it is "ok". They're saying that updates will simply be streamed to PCs via Windows Update. There will be no need for Service Packs. All security and bug fixes will be downloaded as individual fixes and not as roll-up packs like Service Packs. |

Even with all these proposed changes to the OS; I'd still feel better with an updated card, just in case Win 10 does try to force update the video drivers. Besides, since I got Prometheus as a used system, (though in great shape), there's no knowing how long the GTX-275 will last. The guy that gave me the system said he didn't know if the card had a hard life prior to him installing it, or not. As newer and newer cards keep coming out, (the 900 series comes to mind), even my GTX-760 in Exeter will be outdated relatively soon. It's probably a good idea, now, to upgrade the GTX-275 before I upgrade the OS to Win 10. I have been contacted by a generous Setizen who is checking to see if he can help me. I should hear from him tomorrow. If all goes well, I can retire the 275 sooner rather than later. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

It's about time they dropped that , it has caused me no end of grief over the years trying to update software and then the driver checks to see if you have the service pack and says yes you do so i don't need to load that . Realtek Azailia codec is a very good example of that happening in XP I had to ask Gigabyte to release a stand alone driver to get that to work what a headace that was . |

I have been contacted, and have accepted an offer for a used GTX-750 TI. It is being shipped to me Monday, and should arrive by Friday. I will then change out the 275 for the newer 750. :-) Thanks for all the input, everyone. :-) TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

That will save you a lot of dollars in electricity for a faster card. Nice one :) "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. And unlike most advice, it's backed up by proofs." -- Algorithms to live by: The computer science of human decisions. |

Well, I've been trying to get the 750 recognized by the system since 3:40 PM - PDT. NO DICE!!! Hardware Monitor doesn't see it at all. GPU-Z doesn't see it as a GTX-750. Upon bootup, Precision X/16 states No Recognizable Hardware found. BOINC states GPU Missing. I've resat the card twice, and still NO GO!!! I think the card is NOT compatible with the Gigabyte Motherboard. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

Well, I've been trying to get the 750 recognized by the system since 3:40 PM - PDT. NO DICE!!! I haven't bought anything, yet... My money is still with me. The seller told me to make sure it works, first. So, seller is genuine. :-) TL Tried installing 337.88 and 347.88, and even tried installing the generic Windows 750 Ti Drivers. ALL FAIL TO INSTALL. Card should work. TL, do you have any friends with a newer computer that they could try placing the card into and see if it boots on their system? |
