More recently Henri has been posting the details, but you ca see all the transactions to the SETI@home bitcoin address here. The transaction on 2015-02-15 was valued at $1013,13 USD.

More money = more manpower, it seems Matt is around a lot more.

That is due to the new 2015 budget. Which let them allocate funds to have Matt full time for at least 6 months. I do not known if other funds were secured to have him around full time for the rest of the year.

I'm not crunching Bitcoin Utopia, 'cause I don't want to mess to much with the problems with AV & Bitcoin WUs...

But SETi@home could give some certificates for donated device (computer) hours...so we can get less taxes from donating computer hours, actually electricity...here was my suggestion:
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=77402
if SETi@home would do that...I would give 50% of my tax return to SETi@home as a donation!

Scratch my back & I'll sratch yours... ;)

With how badly we keep hearing that the project needs funds, I don't see why they don't keep a continuing fundraiser going over at BU. I don't get it-it's easy money for the project.

I would have to agree with you. Perhaps the powers at be don't like earning money that way

This request to SETI staff to make additional work for implementation of such certificates obviously basing on your previous research of Croatia laws and firmly confidence that such certificate will be accepted by government institutes?

it will...& I'm going to give it a try!
but to do it alone...can't really be legit...so a certificate would help a lot! ;)

after all, I'm spending electricity...& paying my taxes on electricity!
while, in the same time donating a GPU power to SETi@home...& CPU power to WorldCommunityGrid projects...

Certificate will have absolute ZERO effect until there will be some law that allows tax deduction for spending for non-profit scientific foreign organizations.
Not all countries have well-defined tax deductions even for own non-profit project. Expect such deduction for foreign one (even not consider how to count electricity instead of pure money transfer...)... I would call such expectation unjustified at least. Do "homework" first, point particular law numbers (if they exist of course that incredibly doubtful) then ask others to do some work.

Not to mention not all of the electricity being used is actually going towards "work" for the project. Differing amounts of efficiency & loading for systems can't be calculated. They would have to be directly measured. Then only the portion over the systems base load is is actually being "donated" to a project.

It might be along the same lines as asking to claim a tax deduction for time spent assisting at a charity.

While there may be some agreements concerning donations of money or tangible property between EU member states, as of 2015, there are definitely no tax treaty agreements between Croatia and the USA (see this IRS list).

Without such a transnational treaty, there is no tax relationship, and no possibility of a tax deduction even for valid, tangible donations. Anyone is welcome to try to circumvent the laws, but if they do, they should expect the tax authorities to be knocking on the door very soon.
