This is starting to get in my craw.
Youtube is getting out of control, and I may have to abandon one of my primary sources of amusement soon.

The point is...of course, youtube makes money by showing ads with some clips.
Nowadays, it's almost EVERY f'n clip. And sometimes more than one.

But what is really evil, and they are doing it on purpose, is a couple of things.
First off, when you try to watch a full movie, some of them are split up into many separate posts, each with an ad intro.
Second, some of the full movie posts have ads injected every 5-15 minutes. You cannot get by them.

Third, and I find this the most insiduous....in the past, when a clip ended, it freaking ENDED. You had the choice of selecting another clip to view or exiting.
Now the pricks automatically stream another clip after the one you just watched.
They are hoping that you left the window open and they can get another damned hit from your browser because they launched another clip with it's attached ad.

So, if somebody were to fall asleep with a youtube clip running, it could run clips and ads all night long, using your bandwidth and earning them money.

Anybody know of a similar venue without the increasing BS?
I shall always have to use youtube, because their archives are so extensive.
But.........one day you grow out of your britches and have to be cut down to size. I know...LOL.

And I just proved this out.
Here is a clip from 2007.
Posted and viewed thousands of times by myself and others.

I just hit my link, which I saved back about 6 years ago.

Now you get an ad before you can view it.
This really sucks big time. Not the cut, the ad. And when it ends, youtube autoplays another clip that I did not ask for.
They are hoping for the few seconds before I did not close the window that they can get another commercial or clip in there............and that can mean thousands of views and advertising seconds for them.

Shit./

I don't like the ads, either, but I just accept it as the cost of the entertainment. I've never found any other website as user friendly as You Tube.

Install and configure Adblock Plus in your favorite (or all) web browser(s).

I have been using it in ALL my web browsers for over 10 years now and can't recall the last time I've see any ads.

Sounds like regular TV to me.....

Yeah, I know, the whole Idea of Youtube and streaming movie services was to avoid the ads.

One option would be to download the video you wanna watch. That won't help with the ad at start (you usually can skip it after 5 seconds) but with all the rest.

Mark I told you this last time you complained.

Install Adblock Plus

No ads simple,

Also it allows you to block any items you do not wish to see.

Hence I see no badges, or any signatures which are too big, without turning them all off.

I have looked and unable to find it.

On the right side of the screen where they show the "Up Next" videos, there is a slider at the top of it that disables autoplay. The option is also available in the settings pop-up menu.

I come to Think of "Sleep" power-saving state to put your computer to sleep when not using the keyboard or mouse for a specific time.
But you are perhaps crunching SETI WUs on that computer as well:)

Perhaps. However, see below.

First off, when you try to watch a full movie, some of them are split up into many separate posts, each with an ad intro.
Second, some of the full movie posts have ads injected every 5-15 minutes. You cannot get by them.

In most cases, posting of these movies, by the average user, is a copyright violation. Posting songs or even covers of those songs, also copyright violations.
Users can "monetize" their accounts. (SO, is the money really going to youtube? Maybe some.) But, if they have copyright "strikes" against them, I believe they are unable to monetize the account or, if the offending material is detected later, monetization could be lost.

Third, and I find this the most insiduous....in the past, when a clip ended, it freaking ENDED. You had the choice of selecting another clip to view or exiting.

Two others have now told you how to turn off this auto feature.
It would have been nice if we chose to opt in instead of being forced to choose to opt out.

Now the pricks automatically stream another clip after the one you just watched.
They are hoping that you left the window open and they can get another damned hit from your browser because they launched another clip with it's attached ad.

The great thing about ads, even if allowed to run and even if an average user or youtube gets kickback money from the advertiser, is conditioning your mind to ignore the crap being advertised. Let the companies waste their dollars on ineffective advertising.

Newspapers on the Internet have also started to show ad video clips.
They even start automagically that can be very annoying.
