Its all down to age, when you are young it is sweetness, as you get older it is savoury.

I think my mom has always had more of a sweet tooth than anything else, but it's increased with her age, and perhaps changes in her brain related to her symptoms of dementia.

I found this dish which except for the soy Here, is almost exactly what My Mom cooked for dinner, it's called Nikujaga(Mothers cooking), maybe one day I'll have to cook this Myself.

Funny. Here it's called Minced Beef Soup.
We do as the japanese. KISS, Keep It Simple, Stupid.
My "grandson" Lucas loves it:)

Food to win Japanese boys' heart

Nikujaga (肉じゃが?) (meaning meat-potatoA) is a Japanese dish of meat, potatoes and onion stewed in sweetened soy sauce, sometimes with ito konnyaku and vegetables. Generally, potatoes make up the bulk of the dish, with meat mostly serving as a source of flavor. It usually is boiled until most of the liquid has been reduced. Thinly sliced beef is the most common meat used, although minced/ground beef is also popular. Pork is often used instead of beef in eastern Japan.

De gustibus non disputandem est, as Dr Asimov was wont to say.
I don't eat at McDonald's often, but when I'm out and about, my stomach starts complaining, and there is nothing else close, I'll stop in for a Quarterpounder with cheese or a tilefish sandwich. Much prefer Arby's roast beef or Reuben sandwiches, or Wendy's, or A&W's burgers.

When the temptation is so great
that we just can't resist it, we
stop in to "Fatburger"! Once a month

Then there is Carl's Jr with their 'bacon burgers' and the 'double bacon burgers' with onion rings, yum.

And perhaps some added sugar...

That's cause Bio-Diesel is for a car/truck Jan, not for eating or drinking by a human being.

I like pine nuts. But they taset nothing like pine oil. You can make a good tea from Douglas fir needles.
Oh and drinking olive oil is pretty common in Italy, Spain and Mexico. Sort of like chicken soup. It cures everything.

The maple syrup flavor and bacon go quite well together. There's maple bacon, and even maple frosted doughnuts with bacon on top.

Spare ribs with some birch or maple sap...
Hmm. Sounds like a good idea.
Add crushed tomatoes, vinegar and some jalapeno.
