http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=75543&postid=1566049 Like this user highlighted in this message, I have had a crash and multiple restores.

I've super-dupered and restored the disks, but my Seti has a new number and has started with Zero points.
I've been active for a long time and have 19,000,000 points ID: 6114328 .
New = ID: 7560008

I've attempted to merge these 2 computers and have had no success. Is There a way to merge these? I'd hate to have the 15 year old totals lost.

Please advise...

What is it giving for a reason not to Merge?
I've found the Computer Name is the main item it looks for when the data folder is missing. Did the Computer Name get changed? Now that it has another ID it might not work, but if you uninstall BOINC and rename the new data folder so it's not being used (BOINC Data1) and then make sure the Computer Name is the same as before, it might pick up the Old ID when you install BOINC again. You should restart after changing the Name...if you do change the name.

How about just reverting back to the old host id:

How to revert to an older HostID number?

You've nurtured your low hostID number for a couple of years and all of a sudden BOINC decides it's time you got a newer one. Is it possible to revert to the older number? Well yes, here's how.

1. Make sure you have no tasks in your queue (Finish & Upload, abort, report them all)
2. Go to the web site of the project, your list of computers and find your old Host ID number.
3. Stop and Close BOINC.
4. Edit client_state.xml, find the <hostid> tags and replace the number here with the old ID.
5. Find the <rpc_seqno> tag and increment the number here with one or two.
6. Save client_state.xml
7. Restart BOINC.

Now whatever you do, do not merge the hostIDs on the web site, or else you'll be stuck with the higher ID number. Just wait for all the tasks in the new ID's number to time out, then delete the ID when it has no tasks listed anymore.

BTW, you might be interested in My Mac CPU Apps here, http://www.arkayn.us/forum/index.php?topic=130.msg4190#msg4190. There is one App for AVX CPUs and the last post, r2870 for the Core2s. The GPU App might not work for the HD4 cards, but, I really don't know. The CPU Apps should work well though. Check the CPU times on my 2.8ghz Core2 Mac.

I'm not sure why the server didn't pick up the old ID for that machine. It automatically worked for me about 2 weeks ago. There may have been a time right after the creation of the new ID that you could have merged the old ID into the new one, but the server will not allow it at this point. The reason would be that there are overlapping time/dates for the two IDs.

So if you want to keep the old ID the only solution is to force the old ID with the instruction Claggy provided. Not that host records are actually that important. From time to time I generate new IDs for my machines to reduce the clutter in the host Application details.
